This was discussed at length a while back, if you want to dig through the older threads.

Bottom line is that very few of these add on fuel savers work.

Best fuel saving measure is to have the car properly tuned and then drive gently.

I agree! And the equipment on that link basically looks like two magnets over the fuel line... :)

Yes...that is the original con machine that "magnetises" the particles in the fuel and makes the car more fuel efficient.

There should be a law against selling rubbish like that to the gullible public!

OK what tuning can i do to the car then?

Yes, make sure that it has a clean tummy full of oil, a new set of spark plugs, if it's older change points and condenser, then set the carb to run as lean as you can without burning valves...if it is fuel injected, make sure that the CO levels are correct...new oil and air filters...then, make sure your tyres are pumped correctly, and don't drive like a Cretin, and you will have saved the R100 that crook was going to swipe from you by selling his con machine! :D

Mythbusters had a whole proggie on these fuel things, they dont work.

And Car Mag if im not mistaken, *shock* had a very interesting article on the magnets thing. Even more interesting was how many particles in fuel are actually magnetic - its practically none. Its either Oct or Nov Car.

these don't work, i also read about in the car mag...

...but common sense tells you, that it doesn't work

as the guys has already said, to save fuel make sure your car is good running order, ensure your tyres are correctly inflated, don't ride on your clutch when stopping on an uphill, etc, etc

here's a question - does "cleaner" diesel improve fuel economy, and vice versa?

I usually put the 500ppm in my car. And Rivonia has a Shell garage with diesel thats usually 20-30c cheaper than other places. however I found it smokes more and my car gets less mileage on it. But its 500ppm like i use elsewhere. Any reason it could be suspicious?
