Fuel shortage

From the article it does not seem to be a short term problem - only if the economy continues to grow - which is unlikely given the Eish-kom Challenge. However, if the refineries don't get power then it won't be a shortage, but a nothing!

If the economy continues growing at 4%-plus a year then inland residents in areas like Africa's economic powerhouse, Gauteng, should start getting worried about a looming "huge" liquid fuel supply shortage, experts warned on Wednesday.

no worries then....

It was reported on 702 a week or so ago.

Out of interest, what is the pipleline from Durban to JHB made of? Cement?

Far as i know, yes...

600Kms of cement must be a lot.
Again, I just do not see us making enough (power crisis aside), for:

Stadiums
Houses
Power Stations
Gautrain tunnels
Fuel pipelines.

I really do think we are heading for disaster there too.
What good is
1/2 a stadium
2/3 of a power station
and 1/10th of a fuel line?

What about the train stations and the buildings housing them?

Dont worry... LaFarge is importing cement from FRANCE! -I dont even want to hazard a guess as to the cost-

Come to think of it...All the stuff that we guys talk about on this site icw the Gov...changes...etc, wanna tell me those guys ( Govt ) doesnt talk about stuff like we do? Obviously they must have some "Advisers"?

If they listened to advisors, and the advisors had a brain, do you think we would be in this mess?

Perhaps ... one thing I've noticed with our govt, when we had all those Department of Communications' Colloquiums, is that the listening to advisors bit is not the problem it's when it comes to 'doing' something that things get tricky.

Yeah - perhaps I used the wrong word.
Let me rephrase: "...if they heeded their advisors..."
That is a bit better.
