Full speed ahead for Cell C broadband express

i'm not too sure that you've going to be able to get the pinpoint accuracy you expect...
surely the map is just an approximation based on topography vs elevation and range of the tower?
They have a 7 day return policy if that's of any help
I have no idea where the nearest CellC base-station is, I can see the location of all the CellC shops in my area, but the map does not zoom in further than the default 50%.

I will persevere.

Activation of 5gb Contract Sim

I had an old edge modem on a 500Mb data contract with Cell c for years, which I just gave up using. I was going to cancel when the news broke about the new high speed launch, so decided to stick around... I applied last week, via Cell C Direct, to upgrade it to the 5Gb Contract, on Monday received Modem and 2?? new Sim cards, and have spent the entire week on phone to cell C to try and get them to activate Sim swap..... Still waiting!! 5 DAYS OF FRUSTRATION!!! Cancelled Voda bundle on Monday, am now paying fortune per MB! BUT I went into Cell C in Northgate and purchased a 5Gb Prepaid, for a client, fantastic service, as Martin says, was incredible. An hour later the client was up and running.... Perhaps Cell C has to get their "Cell C Direct" onto a par with the new stores. Perhaps I will have connectivity this weekend.... If I have the energy to undertake another hour long phone call listening to recorded messages, to be told eventually that "someone" will call me.......... Very Disappointing to say the least!

I bought the 5GB deal yesterday afternoon and I was just blown away by how much Cell C had changed. From the moment I entered there store it was as if I was dealing with a completely different company from the Cell C I originally knew. No queues. The salesmen were extremely knowledgeable. I was offered real coffee. I was advised to check for coverage on their in-store computers before making the purchase. The out of bundle charges and everything else was clearly explained to me before making the purchase. Rica took a minute on their systems. When I asked for the service to only be activated in December so that I don't waste a 5GB bundle on the last four days of this month they went one better. They offered to activate it right now and this month's browsing would be free. My 5GB bundles will only commence from 1 December. Whole process from start to finish took 10 -15 pain-free minutes. By the time I was finished, I was convinced they had forgotten something. It was just too easy.

So far the speed is excellent. Even the dashboard is much better than VMC. It's got really nice graphs to track your usage. The sms and service interfaces work really well.

Yeah, in my own personal experience Cell C Direct are to be avoided at all costs - for anything. Truly useless people working there.

Cell C are making great strides with their in-store service so it's really disappointing to read something like this. I really hope Cell C direct get with the program. Good luck - hope you come right!

I bought a prepaid SIM and loaded a data bundle onto it just to try out Cell C -- and so far it's not looking good! Yes I know I'm not in an urban area which has or will even get one of the fancy new Cell C high-speed towers. But the deal is that you should at least get EDGE. That's certainly what my local retailer (Rustenburg) promised me from the tower which delivers my home signal (Vodacom tower, HSDPA for VC customers, at Buffelspoort Dam NWP).

But the best I can get is plain-vanilla GPRS, even with a Poynting antenna (which normally delivers full HSDPA to my system using a VC SIM), and it's painful. Definitely not the EDGE which is advertised -- which I could just about live with given the bargain-basement price of the data offer. So what's going on here? Could the VC tower on which CellC piggybacks in our area be 3G+ capable, yet be throttled right down to GPRS for Cell C? Sounds fishy....
