Fury over sjambok attack on cyclists

When cyclist ride in a bunch and slow me down, I do the following:

I patiently get in front of them, drive a little way and then stop with hazards on.
Then they have to ride around me while avoiding the cars taking over me. They always look very pissed.
:p

Luckily it was the Navy and not an ANC Yoof league sjambokking.

Not excluding motorists.
Everybody on out roads are c**ts. Lawlessness has made it a free for all. Why should Cyclists be any different.

THey are much more vulnerable. Common sense should tell them to be more careful and considerate :erm:

But yes, from the sound of the article, this does not appear to be in response to any act from the cyclists. But then again, they are always the poor victims, so we might not know.

No matter what the cyclists did, it doesn't warrant what the perpetrators did.

It is also the way they dress. There was a study somewhere in the UK that cyclists are vulnerable because they do not look human, but rather reptilian with the lycra and those ugly helmets, usually with dark glasses. Therefore they are easier to kill. It was recommended that cyclists try to make eye contact with drivers to make sure they are seen and acknowledged.

Wow just look at the animosity and broad sweeping statements in this thread. Disgusting.

I laughed so hard at this :p

Makes complete sense to me - especially the "Therefore they are easier to kill" part.

Look at this road, nice wide clean shoulder/yellow lane, yet you will find cyclists riding 4 abreast front the left to the right, where the right one is in the middle of the road, or in a bundle resulting in the same:

Fair some of them are douche bags, but not all of them. There are tens of thousands of cyclists participating in events such as the JHB or CTN cycle tour, yet you base your opinions and comments on the few you happen to see on the road.

We have the same problem in the dirtbiking community that ride off-road and enduro.
It only takes a few dip*****s to ruin it for everyone.

As the dirt bikers do, cyclists need to police their own.
If they see someone doing something stupid, or illegal, scold them then and there.

We do it, okes that blast through rural communities at speed making a nuisance of themselves and putting peoples lives at risk as one example are just idiots.

The cycling community tries to do this as well. Ive seen plenty of threads on thehub talking about this, just look at the commuting thread for example.

There will always be clowns. Then you get people like my neighbor who pushes his bike out of the complex and only starts it once he is in the road (still makes a hell of a noise). Nobody ever told him to do that, he is just considerate. People just jump to conclusions way to quickly and lashes out at anyone and everyone they feel might be a jackass. So much anger.

So you justify all this anger with a meme. Fact of the matter is most of us train at silly hours of the day to try and avoid angry, crazy people so you dont even see us on the road yet you make silly broad sweeping statements about us all.

The cyclists were going up a hill. Maybe it looked like they needed some "encouragement"
