I'm wanting to know:
1: if you have a galaxy ace
2: What service provider you are using
3: Do you have the "restart issue" that so many people experience with this phone?

Thanks

My dad has one, with MTN, and if you mean "restart issue" the issue where the phone randomly shuts down, then yes he does.

My dad got the phone about 2 months ago and it did not initially do that.

Recently (about 2 week ago) he setup a Wifi ADSL router at home, and ever since then he also got the random shutdowns. Looks like it is because of Wifi. The problem appears to be that sometimes if your phone goes to sleep while connected to your wifi it will turn off completely.

Suggestions are to not leave your Wifi on, only use it when needed, and turn it off when done.

If you talking about the S5830 Ace then it does randomly restart, wifi on or not!!!
I rarely used to put my wifi on unless i was around a free wifi hotspot, it used to restart randomly while I'm chatting, on facebook and two or three times while i was on a call. If it was a service provider issue it would just drop call but it literally used to turn off then come back on while I'm talking to someone.

Had mine on a cell c network and it had the restart issue within the first month.
Had this phone and sold it due that...oh and it force closes applications a lot too.

Maybe it genuinely is just an unstable phone like many other low-end smartphones besides it being a reputable brand.

I have the Galaxy Ace with Vodacom and mine has not once restarted and I use mine quite a bit on WiFi at home and at work.. I allways switch WiFi off after I'm finished with what I needed it for.. But then I only got it at end of November 2011.. Other quick question which version of android are your Ace running at?? Mine came with 2.3.3 installed, not maybe a bug in 2.2 which some of the earlier Ace came with??

I have a few customers with the Galaxy Ace, some have lock ups and reboots and some don't.

If you have very old SIM card, I'd suggest an upgrade. This fix one clients problem...

I think it's the low available internal storage/RAM that's causing all the restarts.

I'm more or less in the same boat, as I have the HTC Wildfire S, running Gingerbread 2.3.5 and Sense 2.1 . If you go to Settings > SD & phone storage, it will show you the available internal storage space & underneath it : Make more space. Actually works very well.

My Wildfire S is still snappy, very responsive & has not yet restarted on me. Touch wood! :)

*Makes me remember of my days with my Sony Ericsson P990i - as soon as you opened the web browser and you had music playing, the phone would restart spontaneously and a message would appear on the screen "phone restarted to improve performance".

Had to LOL and sigh.
