Galaxy Note 8

Just saw the iPhone X, had a very good laugh, and I am now happy to pay the Note8's price considering what I get with it.

So that's the LG V30 and iPhone X announced ladies and gents and I must say they have made the Note8 look all the more attractive :D can't wait to get mine

What were you expecting from the iPhone X that you didn't see?

It's not what I was expecting, it's what I saw, from the design flaw of the notch sitting in the screen even when playing video (even Essential with their PH1 made the phone adjust itself when playing video), to Face ID being a total fail, and the phone overall introducing things we've already had in Android like Wireless Charging, Dual OIS, AMOLED display etc etc... And then they have the never to say it sets the path for the decives for the next 10Years, when in reality it's catching up to what most smartphones have had in the past 3years.

Truly entertaining stuff by Apple.

How is it a total fail?

It raises some interesting questions, specifically around security, legal protection, practicality etc.

My first reaction was that having Touch ID in addition would have been cool.

Who cares, honestly?

People like iPhones for a multitude of reasons, and enjoy certain 'core' competencies that the iPhone provides.

In that sense it doesn't matter if other phones had certain features before the iPhone does. It's cool that they come with the iPhone now, because it's probably done well, but also because they don't sacrifice the things they enjoy about the iPhone in the first place to have it.

It's all about what kind of things people value. :)

Did you watch the presentation? Face ID is not at all ready for prime time, seeing as they are following Samsung in many areas they should have just implemented Iris Scanning.

I care, as a part of me was curious about the iPhoneX, I hoped we would see something ground breaking at the very least, but what I saw was the same things we have had, implemented in the same way or in terms of Face ID and Display they were implemented poorly.

5.8inch display, and you have to deal with a damn distraction while trying to enjoy video on it.

Lol, the iPhone X arrives in November in the USA, can you imagine when it will get down here? Early next year at best

How did Apple f-this up so badly? And the paltry 64GB is $999, non expandable.

It has literally made the S8+, Note8 and V30 look even more like incredible devices. :D

C'mon Voda/Cell C/whoever else I preordered from, give me my glorious and uninterrupted 6.3inch WQHD+ Infinity Display Note8 already!

Watched it now. Meh, will have to see what happens with it. They could ostensibly change it with software if it's an issue. :)

Anyway, back on topic. I played with a Note 8 in-store the other day - feels pretty good in hand. The slight reduction in width from the previous Notes makes quite a difference.

How weird is it that it is so large yet so comfortable in hand?

I played with it to on Saturday, and I was like WTF, its larger than my S7 Edge but feels better in hand. Even when I took my S7e's cover off, the Note8 felt better due to the steeper edges and dual edge design (front and back).

Check the background, Samsung are still selling the Note4 N910H for R11K that model is 3G only. These OEMs really are taking it too far these days.
