Galaxy Note 8

I also pre-ordered a Midnight Black with Vodacom. Its been about 8 or more years since I've owned a black phone. I think the Midnight Black will look nice for a change.

can anyone please explain to me what makes the note 8 a better choice than the S8+?

because when I compared specs I really dont see a difference.
small changes to the camera feels like it is all that has changed?
was the S pen that good?

The camera upgrade is MASSIVE.

More RAM. And then the S Pen.

It's always about what you want.

If you want the camera, and the s pen. The Note it. If you don't care about those two things, then S8 it.

My wife uses the S pen on her Note 5 extensively, and when I suggested she get a S8/S8+ and a seperate S pen, she asked where she would keep the pen.
The package in its entirety is what is alluring to Note fans.
It has a great new camera.
More RAM.
The S pen is part of the phone, with nothing extra having to be carried around.

SPen != stylus
Call it whatever, I just know that as much as I have enjoyed this amazing S7 Edge, I miss my Note4's SPen daily.

I cannot wait to get my hands on this beast! :D

I watch a ton of automotive, technology, comedy and news VLogs on YouTube daily, I have around 213 of them sitting in my YouTube Offline Library waiting to be binge watched over the next few days. S7 Edge is nice for this, S8+ would be great for it but the Note8 is damn near perfection :D

So nothing major then on the Note 8

The camera?
Yes I suppose... What I meant by nothing major. Is that Samsung didnt take a completely different route with the Note. There wasnt a redesign, they just kept to the S8 and S8+ look, added a stylus and a bigger battery and a few other things. Reckon Samsung played it safe

Go back. Look at older notes and the s series that preceded them. Tell me the one where the Note was a huge difference over the S series,....

I'm not talking purely on just software, I'm talking hardware as well. In my personal opinion, Samsung should never have redesigned the Note line of devices, to be bascially the same as the S series ones. They could have completely overhauled the Note in a different design, to kind of separate it from the S range, if that makes sense

I understand what you mean, but what I'm saying is: They have always mimicked the S-Series, why did you expect anything else?

Note sure what you mean with redesigned....

When I say a re design, I was hoping Samsung wouldn't follow the S8 range of look. I know there were many leaks, but I was purely hoping that they would try and be creative this year in how it looks, rather than following their current S range

I suppose if they playing it safe then fine, but its kind of missing that extra for me, that could have set it apart from the S Range. In saying that, I might have a look at it, but contract pricing seem a tad on the high side.

Need to see what the likes of Telkom does, because they might throw a decent package together with it

I understand what you are saying, but for the first time, I honestly do not see the need to upgrade.
I dont think the camera improvement will make a difference. but I will wait for the Fanie Camera test pictures.

Wot?

It'll be huge! Portrait mode and optical zoom ftw!

I will wait for you to take a photo of the same orange or whatever with the s8+ and note 8, in low light, and full sun, so we can see if the camera is worth 300 $.

because think about it, those huge camera improvements are effectively the only thing that is giving the note the price it has, or it would be the same price as the S8+
