Galaxy Note 8

The Note4 is a great phone. I recall when I got mine how much I were in awe of its greatness. I thought to myself, "how can Samsung possibly improve on the Note4?"

Friday when I received my Note8 it was deja vu all over again...

Agreed it's another great step. In fact I think in terms of RAM the Note8 is the largest step up in terms of all the Notes, which could make it very future proof, depending on whether the S9 stays at 4GB (which it is reportedly doing).

I am going to shop around for a case later this week, this case that came in the box is far too fleamsy, Lol!

You can buy oleophobic coating kits on eBay if your display loses it's gloss. However, I find that provided you clean your screen with a clean dry cloth or a water based damp cloth, the coating should last for years. Avoid alcohol based cleaners or dish washing liquids and other household products - they will remove the coating over time.

I did everything including watching an episode of Narcos, and a bunch of vlogs on YouTube. I think a good heavy game and some VR would do it hey, lol.

On a side note. Anyone else who owned a S7edge find that the Note8 tends to get significantly warmer.

I'm not even playing games or anything intensive. Just using Tapatalk and Chrome. Should I equip myself with some fire-proof gear?

I don't know how you do it. I will never come close to that amount of screen on time.... and I hardly touch the phone...

That's exactly how you don't get to it, you need to be using the phone constantly to get high SOT.

I am forever on WhatsApp, Instagram, Tapatalk, FB, Snapchat, YouTube etc etc... my poor phones barely get a break, even when brazing I'll plug my phone in and have it either stream a "radio station" in Apple Music or have it play a playlist of music in YouTube, lol.

On heavy usage days I need to charge. For example, had less than 2hours SOT yesterday when I went to bed and was at around the mid 30s mark.

Signal is also brilliant on this phone, where my S7 Edge would bounce between 4G, 3G and 2.5G and then lose signal completely the Note8 will simply latch onto what is strongest to keep a Signal, so in my office it will stay on 2.5G so I can at least get calls, very impressive. There were times I'd find my S7 Edge sitting on 'Emergency Calls Only.

Either way glad I am leaving this place, lol, the signal is just so poor as we are deep in the building.
