Galaxy Note 8

Must say guys, I still love the Note8s design overall the flatter, wider looking design has more presence about it, I hope the Note9 will keep this same shape and just reconfigure the placement of the FPS.

S9 is truly stunning though. Looking forward to the thoughts on it from those who own Note8s.

Thanks, next review thread sorted ;)

Yep, they include smartphones in the below. They are going to get more expensive.

At this rate Galaxy Note and a top end iPhone will sit at +R25000

2% more on R10,000 will add R200....wow...let's batten the hatches.

a lil bit dissapointed in my trusty amoled, thanks to all my navigation i now have burn in on the bottom and top of my screen of google maps. sigh...

on a side note (pun intended) does these burn in fix apps actually work or do they just make it worse?

Wait, what?

Sorry, I'm stunned about how anyone can be nonchalant about a phone that costs this much being in essence ****ed after no more than 6 months...

Interesting fact. I just updated my Note 5 Vodacom CSC XFV, to latest security patch etc, dated Feb 2018. Yet, Note 8, Vodacom CSC XFV, is still on Nov. 2017 security patch.

yeah well what can i do lol? will it help if i go to samsung care to tell them i want a new screen?

My Note 3 had the issue of screen burn after about 1 and half years. It was bought from takealot, they picked it up sent it to Samsung for assessment and eventually refunded me. Fast forward 2 years. My Note 5 had screen burn 1 year and about 9 months into the warranty, I took it so Samsung and they replaced the screen free of charge. I mistakenly put the stylus in backwards and they had to replace the whole motherboard and it was done on warranty. The repairs done on the phone was worth more than the phone itself

did you still have the proof of purchase for your note 5 or are they rather laid back about that at the care centre? i dont understamd why they want that proof anyways, they can check in their system that its not blacklisted ie. not stolen and check the imei number and aee i still got warranty left

Updated my Note8 with a BTU version downloaded mid Jan, received two OTA updates, now running Feb security patch

Profit. I thought this wasn't possible

ok so the vote is in, went to samsung care. they take my details, take me to the back, the guy there checks it for me and asks is this a south african phone? i say no i bought it in the UAE, he then proceeds to inform me that they cant fix it under warranty because its not a south african phone. WTF

Ah didn't know you didn't buy it here in S.A. That's how it is though.

if thats the case, samsung wont see me again as soon as lg brings out a V series phone with a stylus pen, whats the point of oohh wow AMOLED if its this prone to burn in.. naah F that

LG are worse in that regard (burn in). When I buy a phone from overseas i buy it as is (knowing there's no local warranty. If you know someone going UAE than that's your best bet to get it fixed.
