The Hard Brick eMMC problem exists on most notes (whether stock or modded - but only for ICS not GB) its a command that has been more or less confirmed by the xda boys. There are 2 maybe 3 Safe kernels that disable the command in question. I myself used dr.ketans guide back in mid May to load the Official Taiwanese ICS release & root my Note. Had no problems there.... but got bored with that, so I flashed speedmod's kernel (safe) via PC Odin. It did however clock up my custom flash counter (Yellow Triangle). After a few days of that, I decided Stock ICS was ok, but wanted something new. Did the following:

Flashed Abyss Note 4.2 kernel, went to advanced, did 3 wipes, then flashed ParanoidAndroid and rebooted. Everything works 100% also I had forgotton to flash gapps, but did it after.... again all works lovely! Ontop of that, I downloaded "Triangle Away" from Chainfire on the xda forums (its free for registered users, otherwise you need to buy it from the play store), I ran it and it resets the counter and gets rid of the triangle... So all is good!

Just having a look now on SamMobile's dates.... The Galaxy S2 had the first ICS release posted in Jan 2012, and we only got it in May 2012....? That's 4 whole months of waiting for some pineapple at our service providers to say yes, it's ok.....

Now, the first ICS for the Notes started coming through in May 2012, meaning if it's anything like the S2, we should expect the official SA release of ICS in Aug/Sep 2012.... REALLY.....?????

ICS is out in SA, been running the official Germany version 4.0.4 since the day it was released on Sam mobile and very happy with it so I am not going to re flash to S A version.

I have just flashed cyanogen mod 9 for ICS, but I have no bloody wifi. Anyone know of a fix for this? Busy downloading paranoidandroid now, so will see how it compares.

I had issues sending MMS / SMS with Paranoid, so I flashed to RocketRom V7 ... Considering trying CM10 Preview now

Let me know how that goes dude. I have found a fix for CM9 and the wifi issues so will run this for a short time before changing. I used RocketRom previously, awesome ROM, just didn't like the wifi, battery and signal symbols. Made me change. Other than that, super quick ROM
