Galaxy Note9

Congratulations! :D excited for you! What phone are you coming from?

Have you got a case for it yet?

Thanks Tsepz, I had a S7 Edge for a few years now. Recently bought a Nexus 6 from the US, but when it got here, the phone did not work. So, yesterday bought the Note 9.

No, Once I get the phone today I will be looking at the options available for cases.

Is it fine to flash XFE firmware on an XFA device?

I bought it from MTN and it has the XFA firmware

Note 9 just delivered.

From unboxing, setting up, updating new OS software, setting up e-mails, apps and more was super easy and flawless.

Everything is fast on this device and working perfectly.

Now to start playing with all the features and then getting a cover :)

My last note I owned was the Note 4. The last Samsung was the 7 edge. Things have changed a lot on these devices!!!!

Yes but its not that easy to flash now days as xfe and xfa fall under oxm multi csc. So what i had to do to change mine was flash vodacom xfv ( as that csc os ovm) then i flashed dbt ( that is oxm again that xfe falls under) , which then changed to xeu/xfe/xda and then it will say new service provider it will factory reset and be xfe/xfe/xfa

Also to get to the blue download screen for odim hold volume down and bixby button only not power and then insert usb c into phone

Okay, just bought my phone a Panzer Glass screen protector and a Samsung Clear View cover.

I have a bit of an issue with the screen protector... Touching the screen softly makes it totally unresponsive. I now need to press down with pressure to do anything.

Good day, I have got brand new sealed note 9 available for sale. Please let me know anyone interested. Thank you

Sounds like to much of a hassle to me. Lol

I had the same issue with a 3SIXT screen protector from Vodacom. The problem is it only stick to the sides of the phone and not the whole screen. I ended up buying one of those "wet apply" plastic type screen protectors. Xpel was the brand I believe. Works great so far, but obviously wont offer the same protection as glass.

There is also a screen sensitivity setting that might help your problem.
Settings - Advanced Features - Scroll down to bottom - Enable Touch sensitivity

Thanks jnvdh06! I did not even know about this.

That setting just solved my problem. Now working perfectly.

My next problem is a good problem. Now I need to get my battery flat so I can give it a first charge overnight... when unboxed my battery was at 66% at 10 this morning. Been working on the phone most of the day. Battery now only at 15%.

Eish. I have used my Note8 without the screen protector for over a year now. I did buy a Whitestone Dome Glass screen protector, but it's still in its box, waiting for whent Note8 gets its first bad scratch on the display.

Honestly, if you just have a case with a nice big bottom and top lip on its you should be good.

Agreed, both my Note 8 & 9 had a naked screen.

I might just do this. Tired of waiting for XFA updates.

I am way too clumsy to do or risk this. Never had a phone I did not bump against something or that fell out of my hands. By the way, the screen protector is on and changing the sensitivity setting solved my problem. All good for me now and screen properly protected for now.

After this was done, do you have a functional Samsung Pay ?

I wish these online shops will stop trying to con people into buying a different version of the phone than what they wanted. Takealot for instance still has this Samsung Note9 on their site listed as being the dual sim version but when I saw that further down in the specifications list they had it as being a single sim, I queried it with them immediately only to have them respond that it is fact not the dual sim version but the single sim version. Have found same with other online shops as well, like CaCellular, etc.

Please check carefully and ask relevant questions when shopping online for these things.

From the Takealot app: (same as on their site) and the CaCellular site:
