Galaxy Note9

So today I was cleaning my phone and noticed a small chip on the screen glass at the top of the phone where the glass meets the metal border.

It looks like a manufacturing fault as I have never dropped the phone or anything and has been in a case since day 1.

It is hardly noticeable but still annoying considering the price we pay for the device.

Do you think they will exchange the device? Or is my OCD getting the best of me?

If you put up a big enough tantrum... maybe.
Samsung is notoriously difficult when it comes to warranty claims.

We do in warranty repairs on Samsung devices and the amount of red tape is ludicrous.
Any chip / crack / scratch / drop mark can be seen as physical damage and immediately voids your warranty.

It's going to be difficult to convince Samsung that a chip in a display was a factory fault.

Samsung pay went live on S3 Frontier today. Quick and easy setup. Absa and standard bank are supported I believe.

Yeah, but seems like it only supports Nfc locally.

Does anybody know when Google Assistant is going to add "routines" ?

When I say "ok Google , Good morning" the assistant tells me the time, weather and my travel time to work.
I want to change this and setup more commands.

But " routines" are missing from my Google assistant.

You need a Google home device or the pixel 3/XL with the original Google home stand

Can anybody confirm whether Samsung Pay works on an Note 9 international version?
I'm considering importing a Note 9 cos the local price is ridiculous.

Before importing, you must consider /know,
what is the correct, Note 9 model no ?
and what country CSC , Firmware is on device.
I have a SM-N960F, which is branded. (Vodacom), but it's also recognized as ( EXYNOS) international version , model no.
SM-N960F.
Samsung pay work fine on this device.
I might be wrong, but i believe Samsung Pay
does also depend on CSC (country/carrier )Firmware and yes model no. .

Anyone received the December security patch yet?

Nope.

I have two Note 9s. One with Vodacom and one with Telkom.

Both are still on 1 October 2018.

But, I doubt I will be installing any future updates or security patches again. I use both my devices as business phones and heavily rely on call recording. This is about to be removed by Pie and in January they will be releasing more updates removing this from previous versions of Android too.

Seeing that Vodacom, haven't updated (security updates) our device's since Oct 2018
I downloaded Android 9 Pie CSC XSG
with Samfirm tool. (5 gig)
Did n dirty flash and will wait for XFV and flash back
Pie working smoothly, so far.
It's has January security patch.

Not a big fan of the rounded corners on Samsung's pie UI. Might feel better on a S device.

That's UAE firmware. Does everything work?

Only reason I flashed is to check the swipe, navigation features, night mode, if Samsung pay is working, etc.
If you don't like certain Firmware updates/features, etc. and you don't want to root etc, you can either pause? (no further, Firmware updates )

Otherwise,
like i do, update and theme or mod your device to your liking.
My phone is quite heavy themed.
I'm on Stock, no root.
KLWP themes , Nova Prime, also have Gx fonts app working fine. ( custom fonts), bxActions etc.
Yes, sometimes i have to use ADB methods to achieve my desired theming results .!

Bottom line,
not much, we really can do ?
If we like or dislike certain features.!
Good luck.
