While I agree it wasn't the best screen of it's time (compared to some of the competition) if you hold it up next to an S2, which I've recently done, the differences in clarity, colour and sharpness are huge. So yes, not the best it could of been, but certainly a large step up from where it was before.
Now the S4 to S5 leap I suspect, at least in terms of display, isn't going to be anywhere near as big as from S1-S2, S2-S3 or S3-S4.
of course it won't. there were huge advances in mobile technology in the time the s1, s2 and s3 came out. Not as much in the last year give or take. But its the same with anything that's farely new. It starts out with improvements in leaps and bounds and once the initial 'hurdles' have been crossed, it becomes increasingly more difficult to make those leaps as big as the last.
