I have done it once. This was only to move from usage monitored to unmonitored. Now it's running like a dog again. You taking an issue that some users are having and declaring it valid for all OW users. That's not right and a bit dishonest. If you had a bad experience and left then you shouldn't still be flaming OW like this. Move on.

You are getting leka speeds with Telkom so I don't understand why you feel the need to stick it to OW every chance you get. No one appointed you the client spokesman for OW users. Yet you klap OW every chance. If you have left why the vendetta. Move on.

I'm not protecting OW, just trying to establish why you feel the need to crusade when you are not a user of an ISP.

He is just sharing HIS experiences when he was a customer. Yes, you are right, that this doesn't happen to ALL clients, but to add to Gboss and techead comments, I was another customer that got tired of changing accounts when they stopped working for no reason, after the fifth one I tendered my cancellation notice.

The reason why we keep harping on about it is because this issue has never been addressed, with them saying blah blah that's the way it is.

What is annoying is that having been with a lot of ISP's myself, only OW has this "issue".

Hey its for future reference!

Lol can't find it on their site

and judging by from the lack of response from GamCo

I can just picture them that side.

"someone is asking for a control panel??"
"whats that?"
"i dunno!"
"and what about the star rating?"
"we offer a 5 star service what are you talking about!?"

:D :D :D

I read it on their thread everyday. I smell that rat too but I doubt we'll ever know whats really going on.

Facts dont lie:
1> Downloads are slow
2> New account
3> Downloads run fine for a few days/week
4> Downloads are slow
5> Repeat steps 1 to 4

This shows that its a problem with the account.
My current ISP has never had to give me new creds or reset my port in the 6 months I been with them.
Although the same holds true for all the others I been with.

I'm also a happy OpenWeb user and have hardly ever had to get new details. Only time I did this was back in the day with the old VB accounts (which were awesome at that time) and most recently my account slowed down one evening, was sent new details but the new details were even slower than the original that evening. Next day all was good again.

I don't know why they do the account switching thing but if it works and keeps clients happily downloading then why not. I had an Afrihost account once and had inconsistent speeds, the support was very friendly and prompt but they couldn't really do jack to resolve the speed issues besides to tell me to try a business account.

My 2c.

I think IS is the best for uncapped. Their latency is very good even if you are shaped to death. They don't moan about usage. After hours its basically unshaped access.

Yeah I think during the day though when on low stars the shaping is pretty bad but for the price I think its not that bad.

R230 for the uncapped on 4Mbps is a great deal.

This is why OpenWeb sets the Pace in the ISP market ^

Free until December 2013..... So that is 3 months. They require a 3 month contract from January to March 2013.

R460 * 3 = R1380 for 6 months [or R230 a month if you devide the R1380 into 6 months] 4Mbps uncapped that allows 2 concurrent connections on IS backbone....

If you split it with a friend it could be even cheaper....

Thanks for clarifying things Tinuva,
I'm expecting flames now after that :p
I am just guessing, because all IS accounts have a star rating, even though the Openweb CEO says their's doesn't. But if I take your explanation, add in star ratings, I dunno. 1+1=2 ?
