Bedford, how would you suggest a 'consistent' connection is achieved? Prioritised capacity on each and every tower?

it would be really diffcult to dot that at indiidual towers, but if they provide a specific APN dedicated to gaming and priority for certain ports than the towers would automatically prioritised an APN that is Prioritised above others. By thier nature Cell towers step down the signal depending on a users needs eg 3G to EDGE (havent seen this with CellC though) but I'm sure this can be adjusted at a software level.

Might be an idea to specify non standard ports for gaming in order to priorities it for a gaming APN? Would be more work for the user as this would have to be specified on the machine/in game but that way the ports/APN could be used to keep a constant connect with high priority, would also mean less work on cell c's side and easier to track/distinguish.

There is no update in tuerms of an answer to this. Think that this has taken a back seat due to the fact that there are several other issues outstanding (ie network problems in gauteng,CT, unrestricted APN, ZTE drivers etc). This would be more of a bonus/benifit as apposed to a necessity.

Cool thanks Guru, appreciate the update!

Really hope this sees the light of day, espicially considering then that Cell C would be the 1st mobile company to support online gaming *cough*hint*

I'm going back onto World of Warcraft sometime soon. Not too sure which ports it uses so I found this via google.

-World of Warcraft requires that TCP Ports 3724 are forwarded.
-The Blizzard Downloader requires that TCP ports 3724, 1119, 4000, 6112, 6113 and 6114 are forwarded. It can also benefit from having ports 6881 through 6999 forwarded.
-The World of Warcraft Voice Chat feature uses UDP Port 3724.

A Zero rated download mirror for the patches would be awesome though. :)

I'd like to add Guild Wars to the list. From their support site:

"Guild Wars requires unrestricted access to TCP ports 6112 and 80."

The IP address of the server I play on (US) is: 64.25.39.52

Great idea but an general increase in the whoosh service quality (ping / speed) would be a higher priority for me. I get regular disconnects and sometimes unserviceable speeds which really spoils competitive play

^^ Like he said!! My xbox live is all but useless now, I cannot even play Halo Reach 99% of the time, also cannot join friends parties or chat to them half of the time. I never know what im going to get when i log online. Kinda sucks when my sole reason for getting the cell c dongle was for xbox live :(
