This is just stupid, i pay for telkom, i pay for my isp, i pay for my subs to eve, and i cant even log in and play properly

heya sburrel, i got ur application just waiting for proof of payment.. (bit of topic, but ya, saw u here again lol)

I'm not home so I cant check but I hope its not still like that when I get home.

I'm sure telkom are shutting things down or something to that effect, and when it comes out they will say that they had to do that with the ICASA findings to prepare for the loss in income and get everyone to beg them for their half arsed service back as its better than no service at all

yeah soz, u can delete that application, i was trying to see what payments u accepted, see i can only use bank transfers... all my cash is still in the UK, so i need to still open an account here.

sburrel - you can do cash payment at absa branch aswell, if thats possible. Up to you.

Naa you guys must just get a state of the art 512k adsl package from telkom then u also can get this:---

its ridiculouse really, the eve servers are running in co-location in london at "Red Bus" the top Data Company in the UK, if u do a trace route the pings are fine until it hops onto the telkom network here, telkom are altering the latency as it gets here which i think is wrong.

And that my friends is the problem.. and that is also something we can to jack **** about! Telkom just dont give a damn, and even when everyone works hard and gets together they just choose to shut down ADSL if things dont go their way...

If I never loved my country so much more than I hate telkom... I'd move to Siberia!

How does one get info about WoW servers in order to trace route them?

sburrel - check your private message, the dns is there.

Yeah im wishing i never really moved back to south africa, not that it was any of my choice or anything but, i cant do squat right now, i eventually logged onto eve, after downloading the down time updates for the game thru my dial-up cos the dsl wouldnt let me do it, then i switched ack to dsl to play and i wouldnt be suprised if my ship was been blwon up cos of the lag.....

~ k thanks for the dns

So how long before ICASA nail Telkom about traffic shaping coupled with a 3 gig cap. I mean, thats really really pathetic that a company with so much money chooses to screw the consumer so bluntly.

I have another year and a half here in the UK with my 2mb line, I hope by the time I get back things will have become better!

Hi guys,

Just want to let you know that I have also experienced horrible lag with Guild Wars. It started around the 28th of last month and hasnt improved since.

Guild Wars is totally unplayable. I am seriously considering selling my account.

My sister plays WoW and she is also experiencing 5000+ pings.

I tried with Telkom, Axxess and Mweb accounts, but still my latency was unacceptable.

Like I said, this only started happening on the 28th. Before that I played just fine. I leveled my GW character all the way up to lvl 20 without any problems.

My friends that have ISDN lines are having no problems what-so-ever.

Oh, and I tried US and UK servers.

Can someone please explain what's going on here?

Thanks

The end and beginning of the month are bad for MMORPG's since people are trying to get rid of their caps as fast as possible.

Surprisingly enough, I played without any problems what-so-ever the last few days of July with our old IS account.

And now I'm stuck at level 17 and can't play

no this is different, this is serious degradation, and which I can confidently say cannot be attributed to end of monthers blowing caps.....This happened to me almost exactly as how it has been described by everyone in this post so far,it was on the 28th....things got real badd real real unplayable bad.....things are still real real bad but a smadge better...........................................................................................................
Furthermore I do not play wowowowowo or guild wars or EVE.... I play nfs u2 needless to say lag in racing games is unbearable as the result is "ghost cars" running into you from the former image of the cars position when the lag occurs............
I have furthermore been playing since December last year and it has NEVER been this bad....Im fcucked off and Im sure most are...
What can we do....nada

Yip, Telkoms like a Spoiled brat, take away there Means of nailing us Consumers for every little penny we got and they throw a fit threatening us with a “We’d … be forced to pull the plug on the whole service.” blah blah blah. I just wish a second "wire/land based" telecommunications company would come in and Rescue us all already :(

For now: Lets just hope ICASA keep to there findings and bring some light into the "Dark age, monopolistic" way that telkom is know for doing Business.

Ps. Im Guessing that all this Telkom nonsense is putting alot of pressure on local Isp's because no one really knows whats going on and why we're getting such high Pings when we access International Servers with sertain Protocols (namely the ones online games and such use). Alot of confused Client's out there and no one seems to have an answer.

Cheers.

I have had the same problems, although not with games as I don’t really play any online stuff. Tried when I first got adsl and was so unimpressed with online gaming i never bothered ever again.

This last week I have found that even trying to listen to a 128Kbit streaming radio station is impossible, it just goes all choppy. I really would not expect this on a 512kbit connection.
