Hi All,

Looking at a decent but not crazy expensive mouse and a decent pad

currently looking at something like a rat 5 which is in the region of say R550-650

any thoughts?

Also ideas on a decent game pad, price range and where to get it?

Thanks :)

Got a rat 7, but if I had done a little bit more research before I purchased, I would have just got the Rat 5. Same thing just doesn't have the spare parts of the Rat 7.

i initially was thinking just to go for the rat 3 but i think the rat 5 is worth the difference, the rat 7 and 9 look awesome but dont want to spend a fortune on a mouse

using a logitech g9x + razer scarab combo. i like it. glides like ice. no sensor/software issues... 6 month running.
no experience with the rat so can't really comment on it - 'cept i'll be a bit cautious re durability coz of the moveable parts?

sweet it has arrived, Rat 5 with cyborg gaming pad

now to wait till after work and gym to test it out :(

Do you guys think its worth the 200 bucks to get the R.A.T 9 rather than the R.A.T 7. How responsive is the wireless mouse compared to the wired

update, i just wish they had sent a smaller pad, this one is huge which does become a slight issue, otherwise the mouse is great

I have a large zalman "rollup" mouse pad that works wonders. but then again I play RPGs and action games, so a piece of paper would probably work :)

well apparently the advice i was given was that it wasnt worth upgrading from the 5 - 7 so i dont really know then if the 9 would be that much different, i doubt you will use it wireless or use the higher dpi setting?

9 is heavy and IMO wireless anything is completely pointless.

Unless the back of your PC already looks like a birds nest. Then it comes in handy...

I have Kaves and a keyboard with sound and USB so the amount of wires going into the back of my PC is INSANE!

But how responsive is it? Had a wireless mouse previously , but this was about 6 years ago, and was not that responsive, did the tech got better?

aaah I have G35's... one wire. Bottom line is the RAT7 without any weights is already pretty heavy.

Is the 9 heavier than the 7?

probably as it will have the extra weight of the battery, like doobyscoo said the 7 is heavy and i have taken all the weights out, although I must say I am used to the weight now so it is no longer a problem.
