Gaming rig

lol no offence to you but anyone who believes NAG's hardware reviews is a fool. I'm not a fan of NAG tbh and it would be just like them to put something gimmicky in a hardware review to make their readers feel like they have the "inside scoop" even if its just a bunch of made up BS.
This setup has been tested by the world's premier computer magazines and websites as well as the world's best competitive players, and I'll tell you now that the majority of the time it has been the "best" choice :D
If you really wana play on a tile then go ahead rofl - I have actually tried it out and it felt stupid, AND IT WAS COLD :P:P

Ok the coldness might be a problem, but they did proper testing eg taking how much force is required to move the mouse from rest.

Polished porcelain tile won.

Why would you say it's like them to throw in something gimmicky? I've never seen that. Usually they give you the details straight up. I never known them to make up BS either.

Do you by any chance work for PC copymat?

lol ofc I don't work for the other magazine.

I'm just pointing out that in my opinion on a world-wide scale to me NAG is very unreliable in terms of their hardware testing i.e. I wouldn't really trust their findings on something like this.

Also theres a good reason why not any of the world's professional gamers use a tile (to the best of my knowledge, I may be wrong) not because they've never heard of using a tile, but because its just a stupid idea. Also something to consider is that for R150 I can get the largest sized Goliathius Mousepad (its huge covers like half my desk) , it feels really great, I can rest my whole hand on it and also Razer mice at least I'm pretty sure have been designed to work at their best with the official mousepads, not tiles.

But hey if it makes you feel special to think you're getting a better deal than everyone else then go ahead. As I said this is only if you're set on becoming really good at professional multiplayer games, if you're just a part-time or single player kinda guy then just get what you like the most.

Sorry if I came across as a little antagonistic, wasn't intended :) I think I know some things about NAG that you don't :P

So how do i know if i have DX10.1 and how do i know if games are using it ?

i installed the spore demo just to see what it's about and it said that i neede to get another version of directX so i installed the older version that a friend had and it worked fine ?

Go start -> Run -> type dxdiag and you can check the Ver there. You can only use DX10 on Vista, there is no DX10 for XP. DV 9.0c is the latest for XP.

if your'e running vista and have a dx 10 capable graphics card, it should be automatic.
to see the difference , you would have to have a dual boot system with xp & vista, install the game on both partitions and compare. differences are marginal in my opinion.

Depends on your budget. If that ain't in issue, here's what I'll go for

Antec Twelve Hundred Unbeatable Gaming Tower Case
2 x GeForce 280 :D
4 x 2 gig Corsair or OCZ RAM
1000w PSU
Zalman CPU Cooler
Logitech Mx518 Gaming Grade Mouse
Logitech G15 Keyboard
Samsung 22" Screen

Please read the fscking thread before posting. Budget was posted on the first page.

No seemed to notice the waste 2*280s tied to a 22" would be either.

+1 - And with all that expensive gear you choose a Logitech MX mouse?

Before the G5, the mx518 was one of logitechs top gaming mouses.
