Gas unavailability ?

Sjo! Cooking on imported gas, privileged..

SA imports a lot of LPG, our refineries can't keep up with demand. It's a big reason that the government wants to move from setting LPG maximum prices based on petrol prices to using the Saudi contract price as a basis.

Also, general service notice: LPG has a maximum retail price which changes eaxh month with petrol prices. Please make sure that you don't pay more than that, as some dealers illegally rip people off.

Doesn't this happen every year on the highveld when the first cold snap hits?
Yeah it seems to be an annual thing really. I normally stock up with at least 6 x 9kg spares, but my patio heaters have burnt through them quite quickly. This weekend I couldn't get from Builders in Fourways, Randburg, Craighall or any of the garages on the route, and the week before was also difficult to get.

Afrox especially seems to have annual supply issues every winter. I've been considering getting Egoli Gas installed to my house, but it doesn't really help for movable appliances such as the small movable heaters and patio heaters.

I live like 1.5km from the end of the egoli gas pipeline. I'd LOVE to get it installed... (gas geyser, gas oven, gas fireplace etc)

I buy from gasgiant. Order online, usually delivers the next day to Midrand.

Haven't an issue with getting gas from them.

Thanks for this, used their online ordering process and Payfast. Which some of the other guys would also offer this relatively painless process.

I've been struggling to get gas for about a week now.

When contacting henrysgas.co.za they said that they couldn't get gas from Sasol Secunda, and I must say, even Afrox gas has been impossible to get.

I'm talking simple 9kg refills. Builders Warehouse, every Engen, and BP, and Sasol has been out of gas for nearly a week.

Anyone experiencing the same ?

I contacted henrysgas.co.za as well as they normally deliver the 48kg and 9kg bottles we use but also got told they couldn't source gas. We managed to find 9kg at an Engen garage in Greenside and still have a spare 48kg once the currently used one runs out.

Did they give you an indication of delivery date?

We apparently live 140m from the end of an Egoli Gas pipeline, I think it is two streets up from us where the line ends, I wanted to get piped gas as we have two gas geysers, gas braai and a gas stove but it was a no from Egoli Gas.

Our area is also in short supply (Northcliff/Fairlands) - availability of stock is based on timing it right. My normal supplier advises that he orders 60-70 9kg's daily, but only received 20-30.
Fortunately he takes orders for free delivery, and guarantees within 48 hours you will have your gas irrespective of supply issues.

Which garage? The one on Barry Hertzog past Doppio ? I'm also in Greenside.

The one on the corner of Barry Hertzog, down from teh Doppio, has he KFC next to it. You can also try the one further up Rustenburg Rd, across the road from the McDonalds, I have got 9kg's from there before. Otherwise I have heard of people and seen gas being delivered to Parkhurst Paint & Hardware.

Been struggling to get at three different location in Randburg but the engen garage in Linksfield had. I think Afrox is struggling with demand.

no shortage, Northern Subs Cape Town, just popped my supplier a whatsapp...refills for 1 X 19L and 2X 9L, delivery tomorrow.
Where do you get? I have to drive down to Brackenfell Gas with my huge 19L bottles on my car's back seat.

Would love to have it delivered too...

Got a full 9kg cylinder without bringing in an empty one from Builders Noordheuwel yesterday. Was like R530.
Check on their website as it shows which branches have stock as well as the quantity.

083 360 8080 - add to whatsapp and enquire, they based in Hanover Park - no sure if delivery will be free to that neck of the North... but they are very reliable.
