Perhaps you guys are smarter than GConnect's tech support. I'm sure somethings up with this SIM but anyway here's the story:

Ordered a 3G data SIM from GConnect, delivered it to me, did my RICA - phoned by GConnect and they said the SIM is enabled (they have also confirmed this a number of times in my support phone calls)

I have tried setting it up on 2 different desktops and a laptop and all gave the _same_ error, error 619 (which I'm told is a very general error)

Vodafone Mobile Connect: Created a new connection called GConnect, username GConnect password GConnect APN www.tsamma.com and auth method PAP, added this connection clicked ok made sure it was selected in the drop down and clicked on connect (always says Vodacom 3G network was available). Tried ticking/unticking PAP/CHAP etc. settings in the security tab, all the same response. Typed the username and password in many many times and still the same thing.

Uninstalled, reinstalled, on multiple PC's - exactly the same problem.

Was sent a word doc from GConnect with instructions on how to set up Mobile Partner with GConnect, went through all the steps twice to make sure and Mobile Partner also gives me an error 619.

Still no connection and they've "escalated" the problem. I have connected via DSL to my GConnect account so it's not that either. I've been on the phone for almost an hour going over the same settings again and again.. not sure what to do next.

PS: Using a Hauweai 3G Vodafone modem (USB) purchased from Cell-u-city, not on a contract or anything.

[edit] Mods please move this thread to Vodacom Broadband (or where ever you think its suited) - I was meant to put it there but must have clicked the wrong link [/edit]

Those Hauweai 3G Vodafone modems (USB) are temperamental, always make sure that you use it in the same USB port where you installed it.

The SIM is one I ordered from GConnect themselves, it is a 32k Vodacom data SIM. They have told me the SIM is activated yes.

@ SPY - I dont think its the modem, it works straight away on all of the PC's of mine with a regular Voda prepaid topup SIM.
