Gearbest.com - Any good?

Hi,

Having trouble with my address in cape Town, bought the new Elephone U pro, just received a message from Gearbest saying that they cannot ship to my address using Aramex, used my postal code in Parklands 7441

Trick is to use a main postal code. So like, use the main Cape Town post office code. That will satisfy the shipping company.

The problem is that the system which the shipping company has, does not have all SA postal codes listed. I used 5200 for my orders, whereas my correct code is 5201. Once the parcel gets to SA, 5200 points to an incorrect area of East London, but Aramex East London ignore it and just deliver to my street address.

The trick is to provide a MAIN postal code that the Gearbest shipping company and Aramex Hong Kong havenon their system. Once it gets to SA, a wrong postal code is not going to prevent your parcel from getting to you.

The main postal code for table view, Milnerton is 7441, the physical address of Aramex this side has 7441 as it's postal code, I really doubt that in this case the problem is with the postal code because that's also Aramex postal code. Dropped my work address and will see if they'll be able to send it by Monday as I believe they'll only respond on Monday, not sure why my address doesn't work as I've bought many items on eBay and AliExpress with the same address and I've never had any issue

I wanna call call BS, getting a list of post codes is easy, importing said list into your system is easy. I simply don't buy it, if it is in fact true then you're a mickey mouse operation.

Anyone had the issue when ordering and there's no priority or DHL shipping option? I just carted like 7 items but no option except the standard post office

Do note that Gearbest does not ship directly with Aramex but rather use a forwarding company. Everything in life is quantity based and the forwarding companies does millions of packages monthly and thus get a good shipping rate. Due to this, there are times where they incorrectly see certain postal codes as remote incorrectly. We are working on this to fix this issue with a new shipping company but it does take time. I have been using them for a long time with no issues so if you are worried to order, PM me what you want and I can order it for you.

It depends on the items you want to order. If it has Vape items, standalone batteries or power banks, it can happen. Open each item individually and see which one does not have the Priority Line shipping option.

Sent them a message to change the postal code to 8001, will let you guys know if it works, want it sent with Aramex, don't want to wait two months with normal shipping as once it gets here sapo is annoyingly slow and DHL is way too expensive. Got the new elephone u pro, wanted the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 or the Meizu Pro 7 plus but after watching reviews and video on YouTube I sort of fell in love with the elephone U pro, hope it will be as good as the videos and reviews

Must say I'm happy with the delivery of my parcel from Gearbest. Ordered on 2 February and was delivered on 9 February.

Regular items... Maybe I need to add a bigger item to get it too priority.

Also I noticed that power banks need to be shipping separately which seems silly.

Edit : when I removed a pocket knife i carted it gave the option of priority and DHL shipping.. Guess knives are a no no as well for fast shipping .

Put your City as Cape Town and Postal code as 8001. That should resolve the shipping issue.

Thank you, changed it to 8001 and it did the trick, 8001 is Cape Town central postal code but I guess Aramex will know how to fix it once it get here, received a confirmation that the phone was shipped and can trace it on Aramex website

You were absolutely right, changed it to 8001 and it fixed the problem, has been shipped today. THANK YOU

Always a nice email to get, total parcel value was R1300 with only two items but not complaining.

Now contrast that to my visit to the Post office this Friday to pick up 3 items (that came via the 'slow boat' aka Registered Airmail):
1. $2 spare screws for my drone
2. $6 spare propellers for my drone
3. $22 for 4x Coke Can RC cars

SAPO charged me (respectively ) ... R24, R24, and ... yes, you guessed it R24 = R72 in total for $30 in items

what a f**ing joke

Not trolling here, but why would you not pay the Priority Line courier fee with every order?

Case in point, my CASES and CABLES order which I placed on Friday last week came up to $13.38 for 3 cell covers, 1x USB-C cable, 1x microUSB cable and 1x USB-C OTG cable. $13.38 x R12 = R160.56 which is less than the cost of 1 cellphone cover bought from any Paki shop here in EL - absolute bargain!

Then, Priority Line was an extra $13.71, so another R164.52. For delivery in a week, full on realtime tracking and the safety of knowing your parcel will get to your door with Aramex, that R164.52 is peanuts! So if I add the R160.56 + R164.52, R325.08 is still an absolute bargain for those 6 items which are already in the air and on their way to me and should reach me before close of business this coming Friday.

So I genuinely ask, why would you use the free, many many months wait, postal shipping?

Spare screws and propellers were actually part of my drone order which (strangely) arrived a whole month earlier (i mean the spares were delayed a month extra when all were shipped at the same time). BangGood decided to split the order. Priority shipping for the drone was stupidly expensive ... i think it was $55 for an $90 drone.
The Coke Can Cars ... Again , the priority line charge was like $20 for a $22 order... I just couldn't justify (to myself) the % of the price I was paying for delivery.
Also, I was in no hurry to get the stuff... I probably paid like $10 for shipping on all of those items ... as opposed to >$70
Just bear in mind... Some of us can just barely justify the "luxury spend" on these the items, so having to pay >70% extra for shipping means I would have had to chose not to buy some of the those items to stay within my budget (which I was already way over)
The point I was making about the SAPO is that they seemed to have slapped on a random charge for my items... R24 for $2 worth of screws!?!
