Gearbest.com - Any good?

If you do get it right let me know how I failed to succeed to order from Aliexpress and ship with AGS...
Have not tried yet but clearly you know better than I do. Gosh another obstacle. Thanx for the info

My two Mi A2 phones arrived today. All in all not a bad experience.

Order placed 23/07/2018 and delivered 15/08/2018 that is 3 weeks. Customs took more than a week.

The total all inclusive per phone was R4100. Customs was R350 per phone. There was a R2 difference on the phones at customs for some reason.

The charging adapter is this time the South African type so no need for adapters which is great.

Don't do aliexpress!

Besides it going through SAPO, you won't be able to get a refund if they provide tracking number. Aliexpress will almost always side with the seller.

Gearbest only seemed like the best option, but I wouldn't use them now considering how bad they're are at the moment.

I keep receiving my refunds from them.

ordered a bunch of stuff and it arrived at customs. I now have to pay R988 customs on R1300 order. The description is some kind of dress. I didn't order a dress and I don't want to pay R988 for an incorrect order. Does anyone know how I can see what is in the package before paying for it?

Anyone brought in more than 3 Gearbest packages which attracted customs this year and been asked for an importers code?

I have paid customs on 2x Xiaomi Mi A1 orders in Feb and March and 1x dashcam order in March. Now I want to order a Mi Max 3 from Gearbest but am worried it will be held at customs until I register for an importers code per this in a new Wendy Knowler article:

Buy more than three items from international retail sites such as Amazon in the space of a year and you'll automatically become an official importer in the eyes of SARS - and you’ll need to apply for a special code before getting your hands on your purchases.

Using Aramex on gearbest seems like the only good option. Items arrive very fast once shipped.

So I got 2 deliveries today with no customs. 1 Gaming headset and couple of cables, chargers, screen protectors and phone cases.

All went through customs with no charge or clearing fees.

Ja but problem is that not all their stuff are shipped via Aramex. DHL only other option with shipping costing much more than the item itself.

Yeah I guess so but at ~R200 most of the stuff from the same warehouse can be shipped together which makes it worth it. Also I noticed items in stock with Gearbest itself and in the hk-4 warehouse offers relatively decent aramex rates of less than R100 and sometimes when 2 or more items are added it becomes even free. Wanted to buy 1 cheap dual sim phone for R200 but then priority line shipping is R130 so added another one and shipping became R12. So nice to see. Check for the gearbest in stock items and in hk-4 for the best aramex shipping rates.

On another note. One of my shipments showing this. It was ordered the day after the others while the other 2 got delivered today. This one still stuck in HK.

I've had that before. Just needs patience. Another alarming update is when the Bags go missing for a few days into Dubai, but it did come right with all my previous orders. Just don't panic and let things settle on their own.

I bought from them a few times, using Priority Line and DHL.

Bought my Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 also from them, but used DHL for this order.

i am wanting to also buy the same item from there. How much did your import duties come to. it will be my first time ordering online from overseas. thanks for the help! and how long did you wait for your phone?

I have not once had an issue with aliexpress, and I've probably ordered over 100x over the years - I've had numerous refunds because of late deliveries with tracking numbers (last was November 18)- I always repay the seller if the item arrives. Unfortunately with the post office, you wait about 3-4 months. I currently have four items waiting for delivery.

Gearbest on the other side was a nightmare dealing with.

I missed a third extension of buyer protection on a purchase last year on my first aliexpress purchase. When the item came, it was the wrong model, useless to me. No way to claim refund :(

Damn SAPO and me getting my buyer protection dates wrong...

Wanna order a miphone any idea on the import tax?
I don't wanna buy something for k7 and end up paying 10

Wow thanks it actually worked...I now own a mi mix 3 cost about 11k still cheaper than other flagships in SA... camera is about as good as the S9 (which is great) display is awesome even though its not qhd (but still amoled) its great...my big sis ordered it for me and she got the package in 9 days
