I would like to thank GearBestZA for his assistence in helping me set my shipping address so as to ensure the item was sent as soon as possible. He also gave me a rough indication of the expected customs duties which ended up being lower than the approximated R500.
My only gripe thus far was with Aramex, their online tracking system on the site and app froze for 3 days showing my item in Dubai while it was actually at customs in JHB, I had to call them a few times to push the customs clearance process along and get the invoice sent to me. This took 3 days which was annoying but was eventually sorted out.
All in all the process of ordering to shipping was very simple.
Just a note that Gearbest requested identification documentation from me just after i placed the order so as to validate my paypal account belonging to me. Only after this was given to them did they process the order so this added in another day delay overall but was a very simple upload to make.
I hope this helps those out there wanting to buy online. I am considering setting up an importers account with SARS as I believe there is a limit to goods you can import without one. It is free and the forms and process are available on the SARS site. I will create a separate thread to track this for those interested
