......How the hell can they charge that? They are making 200% profit on it.

Welcome to capitalism 101 ... it is called supply and demand ... whoever said that you may only markup an item by 10% ???.

Just feel sorry for the poor sod who is going to pay that price for a graphics card that is going to be outdated within 6 months time :).

I feel like that sod...I bought a 7900GT about 5 months back when it was still new and now its outdated already! At least I got a good price!

Its called price gouging, suppliers do it when there is a new product that everyone has to have. However, these guys are charing around R1000 more than other local suppliers

Are you doing this on purpose? Making me jealous? Is it yours?:)

How much ???.

I recently upgraded from a 6600GT to a 7600GS ... it cost me about the same as what I paid for a 6600GT 1 year ago but I have now double the memory and far better graphics performance.

It does not pay to buy bleeding edge anymore ... once in a while you might end up with another disaster like the GeForce 5800FX.

That's the route I'm taking, I'm getting that card in the near future.

See, me and computersonly and that guy that brings the things in from the US have realistic prices, while prophecy tries to pull a Telkom...

I find that quite an interesting comment to make.

Prophecy was the first 'gaming' forum in SA [circa 1997/98] and thus has lots of geeks/pc fanatics on their forums. The forumites will surely know that they're getting ripped off so this decision by Prophecy confuses me a little bit.

Come guys Prophecy is about the only shop that brings in high end ram and was the first and only people to bring in the mushkin Level2 Black biatch5 ram back in 2001. They also have many other obscure things like the OCZ booster that nobody else had. I'm sure they've just slipped on the pricing of this gfx card. As 8K is not a fair price for any computer component

Could be, but I can tell you buying the 7900GT Extreme was the best part of getting a new PC! I've had no game that I could not run on full graphics! It truely was a great investment, for now.

I just hope I can keep on playing cool games for some more months before getting a better one.
