General Hardware and Software FAQ - replies

Added, thanks :)

Guys, please PM me the suggestions. Don't want to turn this thread into a monolith of suggestions ;)

I'm sending him a PM regarding that right now :)

Will ask to have it moved to the replies thread ;)

I am aware that the picture in the FAQ isn't loading, however that's because of a forum hiccup and beyond my control.

Hold on there...

Someone asked:

Q: What speed should my RAM be for it to run at a 1:1 ratio with my FSB (Front Side Bus)?

A:
DDR-400 for a 1:1 ratio on an 800MHzFSB
DDR2-533 for a 1:1 ratio on a 1,066MHz FSB
DDR2-667 for a 1:1 ratio on a 1,333MHz FSB
DDR2-800 for a 1:1 ratio on a 1,600MHz FSB

So iv'e got an asus p5b board,on the website it says:

Front Side Bus: 1066 / 800 / 533 MHz

Memory: 4 x DIMM, max.8GB,
DDR2 800 / 667 / 533 MHz,
non-ECC, un-buffered memory
(Dual channel memory architecture)

So,the most worthwhile ram for me to buy,(8 gigs of it since im upgrading to vista 64 bit:D)will be...DDR2-????

Also,im not overclocking,so does lower latency timings matter,or should i just go with the cheapest available ram?

THanx

I agree with QX6700RULZ, since DDR2-800 is so cheap currently there is no reason not to buy the fastest RAM you can afford :)

Just get ddr2 800 it is dirt cheap at the moment

ok...but considering my mobos specs,
1)what is the most "efficient" ddr2 ram to buy?
2)is it worth it going for one of these if im not going to overclock?

if so,which one?

If you aren't planning on overclocking there's no real reason to buy expensive, name-brand RAM modules. :)

I want to know what theme is being used on firefox in the examples :p
