Yeah whatever! Clearly this proves it definitely is different strokes for different folks. I'd rather switch off the commentary than listen to those one eyed twats!

Hey I hate asstralians just as much as the next good South African but you got give credit where its due, Richie is class.

Oh & Symo is on twitter now @Symmo77 not very entertaining

Worst commentator is Brett ("Oh my word") Procter. Thank God he is not on this tour.

Boycott and Cullinan were having a go. Fantastic stuff :D

Yeah miss Symcox.

Symcox said he was sick and tired of being instructed by SuperSport executives on what he could and could not say on air.

Some things never change. Supersport is no different to any other ccensorship practicing broadcaster.

@rwenzori

Trust you to bring up Quirk the jerk. Things you try to forget

I enjoy listening to Boycott, but who remembers that aweful commentator that they always seemed to pair with Jackman, I think his name was Majola??

Boycott this morning ...

On Anderson's ability to swing the ball..." he'll swing an orange..." :D

And on Smith when he klapped one of Anderson's short balls for 4... " that's too short, he can use my mum's frying pan and hit that for 4 ":D

the thing i like about boycott is that he's probably as impartial as they come. if his side is playing like muppets, he'll scald them. but he also gives praise where it's due. he'll tell you straight if he likes a player or if he thinks the guy's got no hope. he also appears to do his homework on players and actually chat to them and watch them off the field and in the nets.

- south africans commentators tend to be too self-deprecating and respectful
- west indian commentators tend to be too depressed and anecdotal
- australian commentators tend to be narcissistic
- indian and british commentators seem the most balanced in my books

My favorites in order:

  1. Mark Nicholas
  2. Ian Bishop
  3. Shane Warne (2009 Ashes he was brilliant)
  4. Fanie de Villiers (back when he commentated in English)
  5. Pommie Mbangwa

Anyone think that the quality of Radio 2000's commentary has gone down?

Pommie Mbangwa? Sheesh, really is different strokes for different folks. I used to enjoy Inside Edge with Haysman, but cannot stand this guy. The way he gleefully rubs his hands while trying to say something of substance is just all too much for me. His commentary is terrible and enough to make me mute or go Afrikaans.

I defintely prefer the poms and even the Aussies. I especially like listening to the somewhat one-eyed "Sir" Ian Botham squirm around when they are getting a klap!

His post match round-ups are a bit dodgy, he did get to me during the Ashes. But his commentary is good. Best of all the South Africans (yes I know he;s from Zim)

agreed on Fannie and Mark nicholas, I turn to Afrikaans commentating when fannie is on.

shane warne is a bloody eenoog Australian gogga. knows him game though,
Ian Bishop is a good thinker of the game,

Pommie =captain obvious...... eg, today smith his a boundary the ball travelled on the grass basically from leaving the bat and he goes "o he will never catch that"......

SA lacks English commentating talent. Even Allan Donald is better in Afrikaans, they make a cricket game sound like a Rugby match!
