Objectively speaking as a white man living in another country, you are confidently claiming that racism in US is basically non-existent?
 
This whole thread is nitpicked videos and articles from all over making overly militarized police that should not be interacting with the public, all racism and not the aforementioned problem. You can't moan about one and not the other, it's the nature of these unmoderated threads

100% Agree, militarized police is a massive problem and it certainly affects white people too.. If they can at least alleviate that it will mean that less people (black and white) get killed by gung-ho cops. Racism is hard to combat because it's often hidden, militarized police is an issue that everyone can see and needs to be addressed.

I have ex Marine friends who say that no one having served should be in the domestic police force .... they cannot process it after serving. They even agree that the level of weaponry and such is way way out of control and these are guys with their own guns. Someone with the power needs to make the effort to scale it all back and make sure the right men and women are in the positions that matter.

Nope, but I am not making confident claims that conflict with actual studies documenting systemic racism in the US.

What has the woman that was pregnant and and subjected to armed robbery at the hands of floyd have to say of him becoming some kind of national hero / Saint.

Seems an innocent victim in all this is being ignored.

I see it a little differently. although soldiers are trained to take the kill shot, a lot of those trained in counter insurgency are a lot better at de-escalation. Soldiers not on active deployment under training and re-reinforcement, something that most street cops don't do once they have left the academy.

One expert in an article I read recommended that cops on the job should be spending as much as one fifth of their time training, to make sure that when they are in these admittedly scary scenarios that the training takes over and they don't over react. No easy fix but I think the hiring policies of local police forces need to be looked at, far too many of them hire "bullies".

Are these the same studies that conclude with policing being racist in the US and then ignore certain statistical aspects to make their point?

I get your cheeky point, but it still doesn't mean Floyd should've had his heart attack and breathing issues ignored by the police around him.

If it wasn’t Floyd, it would have been the next victim. Floyd was just the proverbial straw that broke the camels back. Not sure why people keep harping on about Floyd personally as if everything that’s happening is for him.
