Becasue I hear/read it EVERY day and race is never mentioned in a contsructive or positive manner. It is used in a blaming or accusatory manner.

What mainstream discourse have you been following? That's all the ANC has been harping on about for the last 18 years, especially lately, so as to distract from their own pilaging.

Get over it and move on. Blaming apartheid for everything is getting rather old and ineffective. Talking about white privilege has no relevance anymore...those days are long gone.

That's because white people as a whole don't want to accept they benefited. This will continue forever until that happens

Because this is reverse racism? What exactly will the outcome of such 'discourse' be? Do we want to pin the failures of the current regime on the 'privileged whites'? When do we start taking responsibility for our own life?

People will be benefiting from Apartheid for hundreds of years still. The extent to which people benefited and the amount will slowly decline during that period though

Doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. I have ZERO white guilt. Besides, the government of choice now has something to blame their incompetency on. Good deal, I'd say!

So until such time I just have to endure the incessant diatribes from any politician that finds himself in front of a camera/journalist?

No single person. Once a majority of white people start acknowledging the benefit they received, you will start seeing the discourse change.

Not drinking, or smoking and not giving into peer pressure for the risk of being labeled uncool and a geek is how I saved up for my first computer. Took a few years, but that's how I got it, second hand...

Only got internet in 2006, the cheapest option. and the only reason I can post here today is because of current mobile price war and promotions. Oh and I still don't smoke, saves a lot of money. I have no symphony for those poor whites with cigs in their mouth...

I have never EVER received ANYTHING (nor has my parents and their parents and their parents) for free or had things handed to us that just somehow propelled us into wealth. I'm from a poor-middle class family and we worked our ASSES off to get what we have today (the little we do have)

It infuriates me to think people are apologizing for something like this. Under apartheid the black and colored community had WAY better healthcare and education. This isn't MY opinion, I speak from fact and history and others who have lived during that era. Something I only realized in 92/93!

Now every "previously disadvantaged" person is somehow expecting a job to land in their laps or money to fall from the sky? Ai-kona. I think for the 1%'ers maybe, those richer-than-rich people. But I had to work hard. My dad had to work hard. His dad had to work hard. His dad's dad had to work hard. We didn't get anything for free nor expected anything from anyone WE MADE IT HAPPEN.

I refuse to pay for something that lasted less than 50 years. They have a whole new generation ... OF DUMBASSES... rolling out. The black friends I have my own age agrees.

Why would I feel guilty? America, in large, still had the same issues we had but snubbed their noses at us? The same with the rest of the world. Slavery got **** done, there will always be a baas. That baas needs to be the one who pays because he is profiting off of others. And in this day and age the baas is the government... and run by the 1%'ers

Think I got **** for free and living off off family money that we got during the slavery era? NO. So why the **** should I apologize for anything when I (and so many others) are the ones rolling up their sleeves and working towards a better future for EVERYONE. Yet get dismayed because our hard earned money gets squandered on parties instead of something as basic as MATH

Unfortunately yes. White people don't want to take responsibility for the fact that they benefited, and as such will be mistrusted by everyone else, making them easy targets by politicians

How many times do you want to discus it? How many people do you think have benifitted from appartheid directlly?
Tell me what did I get what the 5 black people in my department ( the same age ) did not get?

IMO a majority has already acknowledged it.
