It infuriates me to think people are apologizing for something like this. Under apartheid the black and colored community had WAY better healthcare and education. This isn't MY opinion, I speak from fact and history and others who have lived during that era. Something I only realized in 92/93!

Now every "previously disadvantaged" person is somehow expecting a job to land in their laps or money to fall from the sky? Ai-kona. I think for the 1%'ers maybe, those richer-than-rich people. But I had to work hard. My dad had to work hard. His dad had to work hard. His dad's dad had to work hard. We didn't get anything for free nor expected anything from anyone WE MADE IT HAPPEN.

I refuse to pay for something that lasted less than 50 years. They have a whole new generation ... OF DUMBASSES... rolling out. The black friends I have my own age agrees.

Why would I feel guilty? America, in large, still had the same issues we had but snubbed their noses at us? The same with the rest of the world. Slavery got **** done, there will always be a baas. That baas needs to be the one who pays because he is profiting off of others. And in this day and age the baas is the government... and run by the 1%'ers

Think I got **** for free and living off off family money that we got during the slavery era? NO. So why the **** should I apologize for anything when I (and so many others) are the ones rolling up their sleeves and working towards a better future for EVERYONE. Yet get dismayed because our hard earned money gets squandered on parties instead of something as basic as MATH

I don't mean to be rude. But the reality is many, many white people in SA would have failed in an open jobs market if it weren't for Apartheid. There is a strong likelihood your parents would have been poverty stricken family if it weren't for Apartheid, but because of it, they ended up poor-middle class

People that benefited directly? Probably less than a million. People that benefited indirectly? Probably over 5 million

Simply ticking a box does not absolved people of guilt. People are not seeing any remorse, or the new trend, trying to pretend they never benefited at all

Probably much much more than that, how much of the population has gone to school post 1994, as you have said, indirect benefit.

I started Grade One with non-white kids. Tell me how I got what people my age haven't received? For most of my childhood I was also in what was effectively a low-income household.

You make it sound as if every white person comes from a well-off background and got what their hearts desired while everybody else rotted away in misery. And to that I call BS.

Very true. Anyone that went to a state school or private school since 1910 has benefited in some form

What I am saying is if it wasn't for Apartheid, your family would have probably been much poorer than they were.

I don't think anything is going to appease you. How about a sworn affidavit from everybody you label as white? Will that do?

The statement "I benefited from apartheid" itself is ridiculous.

Unless we are going to develop a system where we can evaluate how each person benefited from apartheid so that we can eliminate the common denominators then most likely the majority of the country should be wearing a shirt.
