Co-worker has been having intermittent reboots and screen blackouts for a while now. Today we found out why.









Thankfully the onboard intel HD 4000 has two displayport outputs so he switched to using that instead.

Yup, it's a 2011 Dell Optiplex 990

Manufacturing fault, didn't throttle down.
Dell should replace it even it is out of waranty.

They should, I have a 2012 Optiplex 9010 and we had a flood issue in 2013 where my ATi wetn tits up. Can't say I have anything to complain about after switching to onboard in HD in my machine. Guess the dude is just happy to have a stable workstation again.
