I have no idea when or if my area will get fibre. Do you think I should just go for LTE? Currently my area has max 4mb adsl which is way too slow for me. Is there any way of finding out if fibre is coming anytime soon to my area? Don't really wanna sign a week year contract with LTE if fibre coming soon.

What area you in may help :) there are so many providers doing fibre area helps break down the list some what.

Doesn't look like there is any coverage currently in your area, have you tried Openserves coverage map? I cant seem to find your address or area using theirs.

Yes I have. It comes up under rompvlei on theirs for some reason. They don't have covered either. Guess I'll have to go LTE route I guess.

Well if you're going the LTE route, Cell C's promotion at the moment: 200GB a month for R199 (sim only) (which you can also share between 14 sim cards) is rather mouth watering. If you add another R80 (R280 / month) they'll also throw in an LTE router as well.

I would've gone for that promo in a heartbeat, but luckily managed to get ADSL instead as I prefer a fixed line connection :)

That deal is actually R899 for 200gb. Wish is was R199

I'm going with telkom 50gb. They say I can upgrade to fibre or lte uncapped at a later stage when it becomes available in area. At no extra cost. They will just cancel current contract.

Rather pay a bit extra for the LTE router. You don't want to later be forced to go with Telkom for fibre

Where can one find out which fibre networks operate in your area?

You can't. You look at major service providers sites and see if you fall within their (planned) coverage areas. Best bet is to ask on a community forum.

Very active providers currently in CT that I can recall off the top of my head:
Frogfoot
Octotel
Vumatel
OpenServe
SADV (think that map is the correct one, link from their main site)*
You've got to be desperate:
MTN* (might move off of the this list with proper open access)
Vodacom*

*prefers gated communities/estates/apartment buildings.
