OK, so for the first time in my life I am getting ADSL. I've always been on 3G and my Vodacom contract expires at the end of March. Now my thinking is that, since I am not interested in downloading the whole internet and only gonna use this for casual browsing, the occasional torrent and work that I should get MWEB uncapped (384K line).

So the questions:
  1. I realise that I may have left this too late for Telkom to help me before the end of March but I can wait an extra two weeks or so. I am in Edenvale so do you guys reckon they will be able to helpe within 6 weeks?
  2. I take it all they need from me is a proof of residence and maybe a salary slip or two, yes?
  3. What router do I get? I do not want to pay a small fortune for it, but it requires WIFI. I've used Billion before.
  4. After the installation, do I simply phone MWEB and tell them I want the uncapped 384k internet?

Note: I have considered getting the 5GB speedstick form Cell-C, but I hear they have connection issues.

Thoughts?

stay away form Telkom(HELLKOM)they are worse than Cell C

I must say the simplicity of getting 3G up and running is always in the back of my mind, but that's because I'm lazy :p

1. not sure if you have normal land line, adsl takes about week to activate.

2.i have never send in any salary slip, to anyone for adsl.

3. get billion or netgear.

4. yes simply phone them or sign up online, send proof of i.d though, sorted.

You say Billion is better than Netgear? I've always had a Netgear =/ Want to get a wireless N router so you say Billion is better?

just because i saw some oke on this forum mod heatsink to it , because of its overheating lol

i have seen allot guys reported there netgear's get hot.

not saying they are better, i don't have to test etc.

i atm use billion, compared to my hauwei and telkom one, its the best.
