This is the noobiest question I've asked on a forum but how the hell do you get into the CMOS setup of a Mecer computer? I've just about pressed every bloody key on the keyboard.

Depends on the board. Most BIOS screens are accessed by pressing either DELETE or F2 before the computer finishes its POST.

Knowing the Mecer PCs, there will probably be a password on the BIOS, so you will need to either get it from them, or flash the BIOS with new firmware (if you know the motherboard make and model, a quick google search should turn up these resources)

I know this but it still doesn't work, those two keys.

And it's a new PC with the seal still intact for warranty puposes so I can't open it up.

DEL, F2, F10, F11, F12?

Press ESC to exit the splash screen at startup to see if it'll help.

Otherwise take it back and give the supplier gas :D

That's another thing, there is no splash screen, so it might be that they have it on a quick-boot setting or something. Is it possible that the CMOS setup can be secured to such a degree that you can't access it other than to flash it.

This is a Education Departement PC given to the school and I don't want to break the seal and open it up.

Got it. Hear this.

You have to use the USB keyboard that as been issued with the computer. Any old USB keyboard (that works perfectly inside Windows BTW) cannot get you into the CMOS setup.

aaaarg!! Meccer, they put these silly boot screens up on all thier PC's and make it near imposible to get to the bios :(

Only thing I can think of is tapping the del button as soon as you hit the power button :(

My old Mecer used the ESCAPE key and required no password.

With the old USB keyboards I hit the F1, F2 and Del keys before after and during the whole booting process ... just to be sure :D

But when I used the new USB Keyboard it worked first time after I pressed del. The thing was that I had already hooked up the new keyboard up to an old computer and was using an old keyboard to do the work on the new PC. I had to drag my ass all the way under and in the cupboard to unwind the new USB keyboard from the spiral binding that I had already used to tie all the cables.

Yo dog, this thread is ten years old. Picard has lost his virginity and is married to that school teacher colleague of his.

When I hear the word Mecer I chicken out. I have had some good experience with. Especially when you want to get to the bios and the usual culpris F1 or F2 plus ESC does nto work. However, for my case I tried both F11 and F12 and it turned out that F12 would help me plus Del.

'DEL' key is the most common, unless you have one of big brand PC.

I had one I7 Win 7 Mecer laptop, which performed like a celeron, ultra rubbish lying in the bin, new disc 3 months, found MB faulty in the end. Never again in my life. Sticking to Dell & HP now.

Hi my Mecer Z140c Laptop i want to load new windows but the usb is not showing on Bios. Please help

If USB stick isn't showing then either the bios isn't aware it has been plugged in or it has an issue. You may need to enable booting from USB drive, and change boot order.

Or while during the bios booting press some thing like F12, to get drive boot loader.

I assume if you are trying to load windows again, is it a normal windows Iso you downloaded. I don't know, but based on a quick search the default specs on the model is emmc HDD.

I am not sure compared to other brands, having a emmc is almost like android firmware upgrades, you will need a recovery image in order to install windows again. Standard windows images can't pick up emmc HDD's, some times requires loading a driver during the setup, or flatly refuses unless you have recovery image.

But that said, your extremely short post, provided zero information as regard to your physical problem. You need to explain exactly what you are trying to do.

However based on the post I would hazard a guess you won't be back, so wait till the lock down is over, take the laptop to a professional, and get windows reloaded.
