Getting stuck is very easy.

Just ignore the road ahead.

Not getting stuck means planning ahead, that means walking through your planned "road" to determine any hazardous obstacles.

I never lived down getting my Dad's Landy stuck near Walvis Bay.

He specifically told me to avoid the sand if it was pinkish in colour, and of course I headed straight into it.

Buried the car up to it's axles and needed two Landies and a hell of a lot of digging to get out!

I'n no 4x4 driver but just looking at some of those places, it seems obvious not to go there. What were those drivers thinking? In fact, were they thinking at all?
