Oh and BTW, prepare for some serious import taxes.
14% VAT on a watch. I suppose that's quite serious, but less serious than UK VAT. In fact it's almost as if it has a mild sense of humour.

I just received some packages from the USA via SAPO. They arrived ok but over a month late and had been opened in transit.
Inspection of packages is not uncommon. People lie on the declaration forms.

Well, like I say, in my case the box had been opened and resealed with SAPO packaging tape - it says on the tape that the box was opened by SAPO and resealed - I got all the stuff I ordered, nothing stolen. My stuff was all expensive electronics, btw
Contrary to what people say packages mostly do arrive without theft, but there is nonetheless an increased risk with small high value items.

Typical behavior in communists regimes. They won't allow any other contraband inside borders.
Then we live in a world of communist regimes, and only communist regimes.

Used them as well, FWIW – but it was couriered. And they (all) rip you a new one on those costs.
I agree. It becomes a question of whether you want to have a international parcel stuck in the SAPO system for 30-days+, still paying R150 registered shipping and VAT/Customs, or R300-R500 DHL shipping to your door in less than 2 weeks +VAT/Customs.

Honestly. Save all the headache and rather wait for it to offically release here in SA. Ive orded stuff on Ebay from the in October last year and it arrives just last month, totally forgot about it. Secondaly nobody will be able to assist you with regards to "issues" dead screen or unit faulty. The Core Group aka iStore can and will only repair or replace Apple devices that have been purchased through them.

Yes it will be cheaper, you will get it sooner purchasing from a foregin country, but when issues do arise with a product Nobidy can assist you in SA. Only the "store" or place of purchase can assist you. Been there seen the issues.

They've yet to refuse a service request for any of the devices I've purchased overseas.
