Getting your Passport

I don't have a South African passport and will need to brave the DHA

Can anyone assist with tips (I am in the Western Cape)

IE best office, things to take with

Paarl office in my opinion is the best and most efficient.

I was quite lucky, took just 7 minutes from start to finish. Got my passport exactly one week later.

IE best office, things to take with

Draw R400
Decide if you want to be at the DHA office before opening or around 10:00am
Drive on the N1 to Paarl, dont forget your cash and ID.
Enter Paarl DHA office and immediatly turn left to the front desk.
State your reason why you are there.
Go to the front right counter where you will pay.
Go back to first counter with proof of payment and receive a number.
Go to the photo booth waiting area and wait for your number to be called.
Get digital photo taken
Move to the big general seating area and wait for number to be called again.
When number is called proceed to assigned counter, take digital fingerprints and digital signature.
Exit DHA offices and go home or back to work.
Wait approx 1 week
Go to Paarl again with your slips and reference numbers that you received.
Enter Paarl DHA office and keep slight right towards the front.
Provide them with slips and reference papers.
Collect new passport
Leave DHA office again
Scratch balls, get in car and go home again.

Well I just applied for a new ID and Passport online - luckily I am between the age of 30 and 35. Unfortunately there are no biometric banks in Cape Town so apparently I need to visit a DHA for biometric scanning anyway

I have just got a document that they can scan and made payment. Not sure if I have saved any time.

Guess I'll go to Paarl - damn online thing is pointless. Hopefully Paarl has a scanner

Stay away from the CBD office!

Paarl, Wynberg and Mitchells Plain are the most efficient.
