Geyser timer solution for solar

So like this 3.6kw unit?

That's going to get water to 60c, not 70, so apples for apples calcs should apply. 3h30 = 7kwh. So in an extreme situation, you're using R500 more per month. That unit installed is going to cost about R17k, so ROI in 3 years which is 1 year into their 'pro-rata' portion of warranty.
It won't take 3 hours to get it there and a 3.6kw heat pump uses 900w while it's running so even if it's 3 hours it'll be 2700w

A few people prefer it to be done by 11am. Also after 1pm you start getting diminishing results. So you'd need to ensure that what ever you use is not going to start using battery.
They need to can the solar geyser and add more panels in its place too. The thing is useless in winter.

Madness

Mine is set to 50ºC for 2 people ... with more than enough hot water for another 2
I mix my water hot:cold / 20:80 ... the hot is just just there to break the cold
Legionairs disease ?
There is a reason why we run tanks that hot apart from not showering cold

Legionnaires' disease in South Africa is a rare but severe pneumonia caused by Legionella bacteria, with 93 cases reported between 2018–2020. 65% of the cases were in Cape Town.
Seems like the chances of getting are almost as high as winning the lotto
