Seems my GW7800 GT just died on me. Froze twice today, now it's not picking up either of my monitors (dual mode). Still works in safe mode though. Will probably pay a visit to ComputersOnly tomorrow. Looking at similiar performance (ok , if it's better I'm not complaining :)) and power requirements , will this 8600GT do the job ? Been running an Antec SL400 (400W) PSU for the past 2 years.

everyone will tel you that that 8600GT is a no-no .......... it's nice and cheap and what not but I'm sure it delivers less than your 7800GT did. Is your budget stuck at that amount?

Have a look here for reference. I believe the 8600GT should perform roughly the same as your 7800GT, if slightly lower.

Think the 9600GT would work on a 400watt

EDIT:
Well then would a HD4850 work on the 400 or would it require more power? :p

Maybe a ATI 3650 at minimum, better than a 8600GT I think. R1105 incl at PC International (for the DDR3 version, the DDR2 version might be had for less somewhere else).

EDIT: Or then a 3850 perhaps.

ok,see they have a 9600GT on promo for R1699

XFX Geforce 9600GT - Extreme Edition, 512MB DDR3 (Dual DVI, TV Out, SLI Ready) PCI Express - Includes 3d Mark Vantage

well then that's your new baby :D

 and you wanted to pay 1.2k for a 8600GT! :p

Ouch Glordit. Still play CSS?

hammertime/shooting ninja signing out

Yea I was stunned at the fact that a 8600GT can cost that much!?

*off topic*
It's Hammertime!!! :D
lol gave it up ages ago ;) plus still got that 64k connection!

Sorry ssb,always been a nVidia man :)

@ Glordit : not really....just didn't want to add R800 for a new PSU as well. Haven't stayed up to date with performance and prices, hence my post to the clever ppl here :D
