The Ghostbusters are back, but fans of the original film will find something strange about the remake.

That’s because the new ghoul-grabbing foursome will be an all-girl affair.

After months of wild speculation, fans were finally afforded a glimpse of the new Ghostbusters on Tuesday. According to the Daily Mail, director Paul Feig revealed the faces of his cast in a Twitter collage featuring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.

The Ghostbusters reboot was originally supposed to feature the original cast members Ernie Hudson, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray and Harold Ramis, and would have been directed by Ivan Reitman, who helmed the first film. However, the production company couldn’t secure Murray’s signature, and then Reitman pulled out of the project after the death of Ramis last year.

Paul Feig explained his thinking behind the all-woman cast.

“My favourite thing to do is work with funny women,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “I was like, ‘what if it was an all female cast?’ If they were all women?

“Suddenly, my mind kind of exploded: that would be really fun.”

Some critics have blasted the recasting, claiming that the all-female cast is simply a gimmick. Feig, naturally, sees it otherwise.

“I just don’t understand why it’s ever an issue anymore,” he said. “I’ve promoted both Bridesmaids and The Heat and myself and my cast are still hit constantly with the question, ‘Will this answer the question of whether women can be funny?’”

“…When people accuse it of being a gimmick, I go, ‘Why is a movie starring women considered a gimmick and a movie starring men is just a normal movie?”'

Doesn't have Bill Murray in it...can't call itself Ghostbusters.
 
Sorry. But I don't do Reboots anymore.
And a gender-recast. So who will they get to play Gozer? Justin Bieber.
But... There is one scene from the original that could get a interesting twist.

This will be a smelly turd, mark my words. I'm thinking 1 out of 10.

It will just be crude humour the whole way.
 
Looks like I'm gonna be sitting in an empty cinema when this is released.
