GigaByte or Asus or DELL Laptop

Hi Guys,

I need some advice here. I am planning to buy a new laptop for myself. Will be doing Software Development (VB.NET + Database) on it mostly.

I want to go in for the best Price/Performance.

The ones i am looking for are:

at the moment i am thinking about going for GIGABYTE....Which one is better PERFORMANCE wise.
 
All 3 are a major rip off. And "performance" is a term that requires some justification. Performance in terms of what? Gaming? Number crunching?

Personally, I'd be inclined to go Dell, because the Gigabyte and Asus notebooks I've used have been really crap. But having said that, the Dell you list is way too expensive for what you get. R12000 and only 2GB RAM ??

Sure, the Gigabyte looks like a great deal. Good specs and low price. But what's the build quality like? And warranty?

I'd have a look at some OTHER Dell machines or some HPs. Or a Lenovo Thinkpad. Or a Sony Vaio. You can get great deals in that price range.
 
The 17" screen laptops are generally Beeeeg.
Dell and Asus are decent, never used gigabyte before.
 
Go for the Asus. Gigabyte is a very new to laptops...

What would be the durability of such a machine? With other words: How long did they last?

Think they're expensive?
My dad recently got an HP elitebook: P8600, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, HD3650(?) graphics etc., so it's nice but not spectacular. The cheapest I've found it (from laptop direct) is R14.3k...
