Gimp 2.8 released

Saw that earlier today, can't wait to upgrade but will wait for Fedora 17.

Single window mode + layer groups = awesome! (finally)

I would say that this has been the single most irritating feature of Gimp to date, especially when editing large images.

I got everything on two windows, the image window and the tools window, but still, then the one was over the other then you needed to switch between the two constantly, etc. Was a headache especially with layers. I'm so looking forward to this update!

On big images having to drag windows around was irritating. But usually work with smaller images that fitted in the middle, so not such a big issue for me.

I am forever losing my tools window underneath the image window or some other window, or moving it to one side of the screen and forgetting I put it there. Single window is going to rock face.

That multi-window thing killed me last night while working on GIMP and so glad they are getting rid of it.

Just installed 2.8, seems fine so far. Nice to have a choice between single & multi window. I suspect people with multiple monitors will continue using multi window.
