Durban - A schoolgirl plunged to her death from the third floor of her school building on Tuesday after she was allegedly dared to jump by her fellow pupils.

Anamika Singh, 14, a Grade Eight pupil at Mount View Secondary in Verulam, north of Durban, sustained severe head injuries in the fall and was declared dead on the scene.

Netcare paramedics performed full advanced life support resuscitation but could not save her.

Sounds like they should've checked for a brain first... story submitted to the Darwin Awards website.

No amount of peer pressure would make a intelligent person jump. Unless she tried to kill herself.

So was dared teased or bullied.
I'm with Peter maybe pushed but if you jump.. you made the choice to jump.

Ag shame - I was also bullied at school but I didn't go emo and jump off a building. Life sucks, deal with it and move on.

14 years of age is plenty old enough to know that jumping 3 stories is going to seriously injure and possibly kill you. It's also old enough to procreate, hence a Darwin Award is certainly a possibility.

I blame her parents - it should be a capital offence to raise offspring this stupid.
