Global Ransomware Attack: 5 Things To Know

This Ransomware has been sinkholed since around 13:00 today. Do not think that this has stopped top-brass from insisting that mitigation strategies, even redundant ones, need to be halted or reprioritised.

Only if it can connect to the kill switch domain, so I think it will continue spreading but slower.

No. XP is affected. A patch was issued in March. See WCry is so mean Microsoft issues patch for 3 unsupported Windows versions.

Windows 10 is not affected.
It would be fair to provide direct links for patches instead of some third-party blog site. If Microsoft provide patches for everybody as claimed, it should be stated on the Microsoft support site.

Secondly, Windows 10 is also affected, temporarily patched, but many users block these nonsence constant updates. Besides, there are certainly more carefully engineered backdoors for NSA.

Incorrect. Variants without the killswitch have been identified in the wild

More bull**** from sajunky.

Win10 wasn't patched. It simply doesn't have the code segments that Wcry/WannaCrypt exploits.

It will be more, it is why NSA hacking tools had been released in first place:

1. Microsoft claims that Windows 10 is not vulnerable.
2. Microsoft want to create impression that constant Windows forced updates give security, while it is in reverse. Customers should look for platforms with better security track record.

:D If it makes you happy I'll gladly take the blame for a bad link in Ars Technica's article. The rest of the world knows better.
I know that Arthur knows better, but not everything goes according to the Arthur's wishes.
