Word up yo!

I think I'm about to return my Samsung 226BW screen and replace it with a Samsung 2232GW as the 226BW has too much light bleed, and it seems all the recent versions of this screen suffer from it.

My question is, how much does the gloss glare? I can't really tell in a shop, since there's tons of store lights around.

I have no lights in the study behind me, so I doubt the gloss would bug me too badly, and we also have black curtains in the study.

Where am I likely to notice it?

you wont notice it when the monitor is on

Do, Most LCD's come with that Glass Covering, I understand it is some form of protection as I find some realy bad when alot of light is shone upon it, oh well guess that's why they made Curtains! :D

I have a 226BW and it seems to work fine? I dunno?

Happy with the 226BW. As for the glare, there is no glare. Don't you know that LCD's do not emmanate glare, CRT's used to give off glare. The LCD's with glossy coating also do not give off glare, as they are still LCD's.

i got the 226bw, and i havent had problem with it.

My laptop has a shiny lcd screen and yes it does glare quite a bit. Slightly less than my crt, but still very clearly visible. I do have the brightness quite low and turning it up helps a lot and makes the glare go away almost completely.

So I guess it's better than the crt if the brightness is on full.

I got another 226BW, also manufactured in Dec 2007 but the panel has much less light bleed, only a faint hint, blacks are near perfect, very happy with it.

+1 point to IC and their good service.

Is it a S Panel?

It's not possible to tell without voiding the warranty.

Samsung removed the panel model from the service menu, and the sticker on the rear of the screen no longer indicates A, S or C.

The only way is to open her up and look at her innards, she looks sexy enough on the outside, so I shall not endeavor to abuse her :)
