He's afraid of being lambasted again. I don't understand what Smith is trying to achieve with these bowlers. Where is Steyn?
They keep saying he has a bruised heel. Looking at his bowling speeds in his three overs today, he was bowling high 130s and low 140s, so the pace is definitely not there... (relatively speaking of course)

I wonder if hotspot can pick up if a player ducks off into the changerooms for a quickie during lunch? Or if they keep the stump cams rolling after players grab them at the end of a match - could be interesting...:D

Aha - haven't heard that, and I missed his 3 overs today while making a snack.

Lunch time! No wicket, plenty runs. Lets hope the next session bodes better for us...

hehe, could be very interesting indeed.

Those drop catches have cost us dearly...

Drop Harris, get in another batsman and have JP bowl the obligatory spin overs from now on. Harris is not much of a spin bowler, a liability in the field who has to be hidden anywhere possible, cannot bat and still hasn't impressed in much of a fashion worthy of becoming a test player for what will soon be the best team in the world.

I prefer JP's action - much more flight on the ball, more dip and more spin. If he is afforded more of an opportunity to bowl, I am sure he'd become a better spin bowler than Harris. In fact I think he is already. But then again, even Smith is a better off spin bowler than Harris IMO. He's just a liability. And he makes me cringe when I watch him chase after a cricket ball. If I had to teach a mentally challenged, gay duck how to run, I'd send it to Paul Harris for waddle lessons...

Or even Smith... why doesn't he bowl himself anymore, he wasn't half bad...

Not likely - Paul Harris is back in the attack - obviously Smith reckons the Aussie lower order aren't practising enough and is helping out their coaching staff...:(

EDIT: I eat my words. Lucky fscker got him trapped LBW as I hit the submit button!!! :D:D

I read somewhere that had Prince been fit for this test, they'd have included him at Duminy's expense.

Duminy has proved he can bat exceptionally well, he's taken a number of catches (and not from the slips) and now he's taken a wicket.

We have to make space for him now, even when Prince comes back. To drop him after the way he's performed would be criminal, imo.

Duminy:
216 runs @ ave of 108 - highest ave
6 catches - more than any outfielder except Smith, Kallis and d Villiers who all been in the slips/gully
1 wicket @ 14.00 - lowest ave :D

I think that's pure speculation on the journalist's part, or at least not a verified story, as even Prince indicated in his interview following the second test win that he was under the impression that should he be fit to play in this test, that both him and Duminy would be in the team.

I suspect McKenzie would have been forced to make way. However had Prince been fit, I'd have kept him as 12th man to be honest. Like Robin Jackman said - why change a winning formula?

Statistics at this stage of his career is largely irrelevant. Prince had a good year last year:

13 matches
900 runs
162* highest score
64.28 average
4 hundreds
Prince's also scored hundreds against all Test playing nations with the exception of Sri Lanka.

That said, Duminy will have plenty opportunity to settle in the side.

For sure - the intention was to show how good a series he's having.

The Proteas have done exceptionally this year, all of our players have pretty good 2008 figures (Kallis with 665 @ 33 is our sixth best). That doesn't mean we can't improve by including someone who has played unbelievably in the few tests he's had a shot at.

I don't doubt that he won't be able to maintain his bowling ave :D or even his batting ave.

Harris does the job he is asked and does it very well. He has taken as many wickets as morkel this series, should morkel be dropped as well??

Even with saying that once Tahir is available I would pick him straight away. I have always favoured the legspinner ahead of the finger spinners. Its also a believe of mine that tailenders handle seam and finger spinners much better than the mysteries of a legspinner.

Big blow losing smith today and their tail getting too many again. Hopefully jk and hash can put together a big partnership, they owe us for their drops.
