Going Camera Shopping

Haven't a clue :D just looks good cause its in capitals :D. I am going down to Makro just now will see if they have 400D's is there any other make I should even consider in that price range ?
have a look at the Nikon D40/D60, Sony alpha, and the pentax k200D (I think).
And that does? :)
(And please don't answer "stabilizing the image")
It helps keep the camera steady :)

I've heard great things about the Sony alpha... :)

Ah...so, if say you're in the mountains during the winter, shaking like an Old man on X, your picture should still be awesome and clear? :)
Some people swear by it but after using it for the past few days I'll take it or leave it. If I can save a few (ok - it's generally a considerable amount) bucks getting the non-IS version of a lens I will.

Makes sense. :)
*foozball is off to do some e-window-shopping with all the newly acquired info*

I got the D60, and it is really nice it does how ever not have a "motor" in the camera to make the lenses auto focus, thus all the lenses you buy has to have one in them, ehich makes them a bit more expensive :(

But the camera is great and you can get it + 2gig mem card and a training voucher for R6000 thus leaving R1000 for another lense :D

there might well be a couple of other better deals for R7k out there :)

I have me a Sony Alpha a200 and its a great lil camera...

The only downside to it is that it can be hard to find lenses online for the Sony, but that is becomming less and less of a problem lately.

lol. I have a friend who just got her Sony, and she's loving it to bits. And her photos are AWESOME! (But she's just got soooo much talent...)

Keep in mind... the camera is only a tool, the skill is in the photographer.

I have to get my new camera soon, and I'll pick the best deal I can get in a selected scope. :) And IF I someday hit that skill level where I'll really need the best of the best... then I'll get it. Till then, its an awesome toy to learn on. :)

No 400D bundle there?

Sorry it is meant to be the 400D not 450D but all they had left was one camera which is the one in the display cabinet for R5499.00

The A350 is a very nice camera...

Actually they all pretty much are... Why not go read the reviews on dpreview.com and see...

Aye also google "Camera X vs Camera Y" you can get a head to head comparison most of the time :)

This is a tough one. I'm also in the market for a shiny new cam.

I have the Canon 300D, which is getting on a bit (ok, it's only got USB 1.0, so an upgrade is inevitable!)

The 1000D looks like an good allrounder (the DIGIC II processor is the kicker).

But then again I'm now looking at a super-zoom camera, so I don't have to lug a heap of lenses around.

Maybe have a look at the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28. Cheap as chips and 10/10 reviews!

Or you could use a card reader?

im not sure about the other Games, but the Game in Port Elizabeth has the Sony Alpha 200 for R4900. its a discontinued model so the price has been marked down quite a bit. Maybe give Game a try and you can get a bargain?
