now for my modem, and this you'll like..
after doing a great bit of research i went for overkill
Netgear D6300

telkom is installing tomorrow, and when they done, I'll contact AH for thier part.
and I'm picking up the modem on monday

so on your marks, get set..

Telkom uncapped. No other option. Unless you can afford q business account
i dont like the way telkom throttle you after hitting a x cap

just to extend on this, the reason i went with Afrihost is because on the top data user score board of each ISP AH have outpreformed everyone else, and this while having well documented issues..
so it tells me that even when AH goes bad, it's still better than all the rest ;)
oh then i steped it up to a business line, gives me higher priorety than the home lines :p

I suggest UNSHAPED you will not be sorry my friend especially if you love to stream videos etc

I'm not allowed to recommend Afrihost anymore :D People get angry at me :P
Only when you post that the network is working when it isn't.

I'm also going to recommend Telkom at the minute. It's cheaper + faster than Afrihost uncapped 'unshaped' (not) and performs better.

I'll go against the usual "not MWEB" suspects and suggest looking at them. I did extensive research in looking to leave them. After perusing this forum and the T&Cs of most ISPs I not only stayed with MWEB but upgraded my speed with them.

Yes Telkom is also good - however he says he doesn't want telkom.

I say Axxess they are reliable and their speeds are decent and consistent.

so hellkom did show up yesterday 10/4/14 for the sceduled install, and looked around then 5 min later left to fetch something they needed... today 11/4/14 at 11am I managed to track em down (just sitting around at the local exchange) they told me they just fixing a underground cable issue as there is a faulty joint somewhere, and they'll be there in 1 hour..
at 2 pm i went back to find them (still) sitting around the exchange, so I asked them how busy they are, one replied not busy at all, nothing to do.. so I told em that they could have installed the line at my house since it was sceduled for yesterday.. they made some calls, then told me the other guy could not find a line to link on and it was passed on to the guys that run the wires, they need to run a line, and that's only going to be mon, or tue, then after that they can only start the install.
this amazed me, since no one even climed up a pole at all, so how did they test anything?

so no line yet :/

Good choices - I have same set up and as happy a pig in dung, as Zuma in Nkandla (that we paid for) :D:D:D

Keep spreading the news about not using MWeb, guys, it makes the service even better for us who are happy with them. Thanks :)

well had the modem since thurseday, the date when helkom SHOULD have installed the line, the guy showed up and said he got to fetch something from exchange, left and did not return. on friday 10 am I found him sitting around at the exchange, and he was suprised to find out I KNEW where the exchange was..but said that he just fixing something and then he'll be there within an hour. so at 13:00 I went back, but found 5 telkom bakkies parked and in 3 of them there was techs sitting/sleeping, so I called one of them over and the good chap informed me the tech booked on my install have went offduty allready, so I asked them if any of them can't do it, he said it have not been booked for them, so they cant touch it.. i asked them why they sitting around at the exchange, he said waiting for something to do..

oh boy gotta love them :-)

I had a look at the pricing on their website, do you get some kind of discount or confusing line speeds?

yes you are correct, I meant to say 2mb business, i was looking at 2 mb business, or 4 mb home, decided the 2 mb business is best as it's prioritised.

Hi

I'm current with Axxess 4Mbps business uncapped.
Account is managed. Not p2p friendly.
