Golf 4 Dash Rattles

??? no idea... trade in possibly :p

LOL...Eish..This is my buds car.It only happens on the passenger side.Even my Jetta 4 seems to be having a few rattles as well. The VW 4 gen has a really poor dash build.
Maybe stripping the dash and then carefully putting it back but it will be a *** graf !

Strip and re-assemble, with Locktite on screw and spacing material where needed.

I guess its a question of luck really.

I must be the luckiest man on earth because I have a 10 year old Astra and while some cosmetic items have lots of wear and tear there is no rattles and the engine is still fine.

Haha, you guys mean like the Opel Kadett 2L engines still running around pwn unsuspecting Golfs? (Yes I lean a bit more to the Opel side of life)

Seriously tho, thread lock alone hasn't worked in my experience. I'm thinking of trying a new procedure which involves rubber washers combined with thread lock and placing rubber or something similar in key areas where you can see it touches.

Rattles is pretty much a problem on all lower end cars. Hell I even see it on BMWs. (Only Mercedes really I haven't seen develop the problem).

Those Kadetts with plumes of smoke coming from the exhausts?! When I see one, I instantly put my air circulation switch on straight away! :p

My Jetta 4's dash also had the rattle problem. My jetta 5 on the other hand have none, bought it second hand, its a 2008 model. I also tried everything I could think of, and also know someone else who also tried all the tricks, none worked.

Much like I do with all VWs older than 5 years and 90% of Nissan 1400 Champs. Their is a reason my engine is called Ecotec.

Be careful that your Opel fanboyism don't "cloud" your judgement... :wtf:

:D According to the 2010 JD Power Quality Survey that might be a very likely scenario seeing as though the Polo came 9th and the Corsa 3rd

I would rather push a Golf than drive a Opel :p

Ditto

JD power survey, I think you should put that one to rest as you are the only one who actually believes it. Rather talk to the people driving the cars. Polo / Opel doesn't matter - If you love you car and enjoy it then good for you BUT please stop with your annoying comments where VW is mentioned. Yes we all know you bought a Opel, woop di fooking doo for you.
