Which one is the best in terms of performance and beauty?
Golf 6 vs Golf 5 GTI

Some says there is difference in performance actual Golf 5 Gti is the best
 
Personally I prefer the more feminine shape of the Golf 5 GTI where the 6 is a bit more boring.

But I am biased as I own a 5.

The initial engine output of the AWE (or something like that) engine models was strictly 147kw, but then VW did a quiet revision due to various issues and introduced the BWA motor which many have dyno'd and found to do up to 165kw but the manual still says 147kw as a minimum.

I have a BWA but have never dyno'd it, but before I bought it I drove many many examples and there was a clear difference between a number of examples. It could be that they were just very badly maintained but more likely the above difference has a semblance of truth.

As such many believe that the newer 5's aren't necessarily faster than the 6 but easily on par because the outputs are virtually identical making the upgrade meaningless if you are in that position.

Many feel that the 6 is built more cheaply as opposed to the 5 where they went out of their way to get a superior car on the road after the Golf 4 which was rated to be a bit soft and not really a major performer.

Personally I haven't spent enough time in a 6 to have a real opinion on the difference of build quality but I can say that short of the 35 Edition the standard spec of the 6 is way below that of the 5 when it comes to silly things like the standard aluminium bash plates on the door sill and that kind of thing.

I would agree if you are one of those idiots upgrading from a 5 to a 6 to a 7.

Nothing wrong with the cars in singularity.

Not so. 6 was a bit 5.5; its introduction was a little rushed, because the 5 was a time consuming and expensive car to build when measured against its competitors. 7 is new from the ground up though and, notwithstanding some difficulty adapting to the VW group's new modular platform, it's a much more refined car than what Golf 5 or 6 ever were.
 
G5 GTI has aged very well, besides for the rims :sick:
 
I had all three, although not GTi. Still have the G7. Although the G7 is streets ahead of its older siblings, the G6 was a real good car.

So back in SA I drive a G7 and here in Oman I drive a Tiguan. Same platform.

To nitpick, the Tiguan's on the same basic platform as the G6 (PQ35), not G7 (MQB).

The Golf 4 had character and personality. Then the 5 came out and it looked like an overweight housewife, never recovered from that.
