There are proximity sensors so it knows when the key is outside or inside the car.

This. The same reason why you can't lock your key inside the car.

Mine will apparently auto open the boot if the key is inside the boot when you close it after locking the car. I have, of course, been way too chicken to confirm this.

It also knows if the car is inside or outside, it seems.

I've pressed the lock button with my key inside, and it wouldn't lock. So I assume when it is inside the car, you can't unlock it. But I haven't tried

The standard GTI has an E-diif, the performance pack replaces that with the VAQ which is mechanical

i thought the standard has the xds and the PP has the e-diff (ie. VAQ)?

I think e-diff = "electronically activated mechanical limited-slip differential"
from the web, but im not sure
the mk6 has xds, so surely they would have marketed it as e-diff too if that was the case?

Also, what if you're hijacked? Np, leave engine running and make a run for it. Car will switch off after a few km and leave scumbag stranded.

If you close to the car behind a wall will the car open? You can roll it away right?
At work I sit above my parking bay, that's about 10m. The car will accessible right?
It's a novelty not a need for me.

Never knew that, so with after market software will both cars make the same power?
Is the intake the same as the S3? Intercooler spec?

Was the golf 4 110kw and 132kw difference just software?

No. It varies between manufacturers, but the outside range is typically less than 1m, i.e. you have to be standing next to the door handle.

Some s3s came with the same intercooler, older ones had a better one.
I don't know enough about the 1.8t to comment but I think the turbo was different.
Yes an s3 and my car with the same mods make the same power.
